Lyla knits a scarf event: Epilogue

I was browsing through the HM3 guide on the UNoT site and I came across the Lyla knits a scarf event. It's been quite a while ago since I last played, but in one of my playthroughs, as a girl, unmarried, I remember getting this event, but there was more to it.

Spoiler:

If you talk to Lyla after you've given her the yarn, she will tell you how the scarf is coming along and how she needs to finish it soon. Eventually, she will tell you about giving it to Billy and confessing to him how she feels. She was disappointed when Billy tells her that there is someone else! (I was shocked at the time, wondering if it was Elza or Sara, considering their backstory) I got too distracted after FOMT came out to find out if it went further than that!

I was just curious if anyone else had encountered this in the past, or has come across it in the 3DS VC version, which I plan to download if I get a 3DS or 2DS.
