Oh man I'm so hyped. Looks amazing! Since Marvelous is a partner, that may mean we could get new Bokumono/Story of Seasons Rune Factory plz for it eventually :D
I am super excited for this. I was weary of it at first but as a handheld console lover the Switch seems like it will appeal to me a ton, even if I end up not playing it on the TV much.
I also really liked how in the demo video it appears the one controller can be used for some multiplayer locally!
I don't think I'll get it soon after the release since I tend to wait around for price drops and attractive titles but it does look super cool and if there's enough interesting games for it I'll def get it eventually. I wonder if this is the future of all consoles...
They say that, but the Wii U is basically on life support lol. I can't see how developers would want to create games for the Wii U instead of the Switch. There's even been game stores that decided to drop the Wii U from shelves because they just weren't making any profits.
The original Wii sold over 100 million units worldwide, and the Wii U has sold around 13 million units worldwide, so it was a colossal failure (they wanted to hit around the same amounts as the Wii) so this is a great fresh start for Nintendo imo.
The 3DS titles, while still being made and supported, will probably start slowing down around 2018 I'd imagine. They'll still probably have games released for it for awhile like the DS, but they probably will focus all of their marketing on their new console after launch. I'd imagine the devs would much rather create games on stronger hardware so they'll probably transition over fairly quickly as well.
Orrr they'll release another handheld, but the likelihood on that? Honestly not too sure.
With the Switch being marketed as a handheld console and lets assume that Nintendo does in fact stop making 3DS games by 2018, I think support will stay with the Switch for a good while since it can handle what the 3DS and Wii U can do and more.
Honestly, I'm perfectly fine with this. Nintendo should focus on portable games as no one has been able to match them and with them putting their IPs on mobile devices they are expanding their reach. If the Switch is a success, I can imagine them doing this kind of feature for a long time.
It definitely looks interesting, although a console's game libary matters a lot more than the hardware itself (at least to me) so I'll wait until we see more games to pass judgment. That being say, I am looking forward to see its launch titles, and it's list of partners looks promising.
I'm really interested in this. Like Kat, the library of games is more important to me (hence why I didn't get the WiiU), but the amount of partners that Nintendo has for this makes me pretty hopeful. I'll probably end up waiting a few months (or years, like I did with the 3DS) but honestly if the games are good enough I'll definitely end up getting a Switch.
Emailed my mother about this and even she's interested lol.
It looks SO cool, I might not get it as soon as it comes out (price and all that jazz) but I know I will get it eventually.
I hope it's as good if not better as they show it.
