Can someone please tell me when do you get the upgrade to the watering can? Do I need to talk to her more to get the upgrades? I can't get to bed before midnight unless I use the Blue Sprite. I can't use the blue sprite because it takes so long to water the plants that they aren't ready to be watered the next day until after he leaves the spring. This is getting very frustrating!
You don't need to talk to her at all, she can be at 0% chemistry, as long as you meet the requirements you should be fine.
I'm almost sure that the watering can upgrade has something to do with amount of crops harvested, but I might be wrong.
I got the first watering can upgrade at the end of spring, and the second watering can as soon as I unlocked the green sprite, so I'm almost sure that this is a requirement as well.

I got the Watering Can upgrade at the same time as the Master Shovel, so you should be close (did you talk to her a second time after receiving the shovel? She doesn't give everything in one conversation). I believe one of the farming related "ranks" is what will nab you the Watering Can upgrades. My ranks were the following at the time I got the upgrade:
Total Land Tilled: 4
Crops Harvested: 5
Crops Discovered: 4

No I had already screwed up my day 3 ways to Sunday and the was the straw that broke the camel's back so to speak. I just gave up and turned off the 3ds mumbling about stupid HGs and such.
When I am sufficiently calm I will give it a whirl.

Does Doc ever give you a chicken coop as a request reward? Kinda like how he gives you the barn?
Just wondering if I should hold out for a freebie or buy it myself. :>

If he does, it's not one of the 4 requests that are available before completing the main story (and I would hope that post-story request rewards would be better than that), so you might as well buy it yourself.
Chickens are way less bothersome than livestock, since you don't have to wait until they're finished eating to 'harvest' their products.

I got all his main requests done, now I'm doing the repeatable seasonal ones, and he never gave me a chicken coop.
I guess he doesn't like chickens, just get one yourself as soon as you can.

Has anyone triggered any of Melanie's Love events. I completed the main story, upgraded the house, finished 8 of her requests, and she is at 78% chemistry. I have tired every building at various times, the mines, the harvest spring, the barn and the coop.
The only 2 events I have gotten are
Neither event had any choices so I am guessing they where the friendship events that both genders can trigger. I am clearly missing some weather condition, time window or maybe the chemistry needs to be higher to trigger the love event? I'd really appreciate it if someone could just point me in the right direction.

Similar to TLV, you can unlock a limited umber of higher quality dishes from Bastian by selling him 50 of that dish. I haven't tested to see which dishes can be unlocked, but Ultimate Fried/Boiled Eggs are a couple.

In regards to livestock; do you have to fill all of the 5 feeding bins every day? Is it enough to fill 3 bins if you only have 3 animals in your barn?
1. Yes, HE is still Level 20 in this game.
2. You only need to fill as many bins as you have livestock.

I never knew that about TLV! (@_@)
But I already have Ultimate, Supreme, and Legendary Fried & Boiled Eggs in my recipe book, and I've only made a few of each and never sold any to Bastian. Do you mean that Selling 50 Ultimate Fried Egg unlocks another version of Fried Egg other than Supreme & Legendary?
