Fire Emblem Fates
So I think I'm finally Pokemon Sun/Moon out. Not much else to do other than fill pokedex's which basically just means doing random World Trading until I get lucky, but somehow that doesn't interest me. Not sure if the update will add anything interesting either.
So I am wanting to go back and grab FEF that I skipped and start with it.
Figured I'd get Birthright, maybe download Conquest and Revelation later. First question though, should I get Conquest first or does it matter? I think I may be more interested in Revelation.
And then Map DLC. Some are free so I'll grab them, but are any of the others worth the $2 purchase? Some more interesting than others? Do any add any story or background to the game?
Anything else I should know about?
Thanks.

I personally went Birthright->Conquest->Revelation and I don't regret it. DO NOT start with Revelation, as many of its plot points actually resolve points form the other two stories and wouldn't make sense outside of the context of the other stories.
I went with Birthright first because it's easier than Conquest, and I figured that going to the easier Birthright after the harder Conquest would be a bit jarring and make Birthright more boring for me. After that I got Conquest and then I finally got Revelation after beating Conquest.
As for DLC maps, Hidden Truths actually answers a ton of questions that didn't get answered in the main story, but it also provides huge spoilers for people who haven't finished all three stories, so don't get it until you're done with all three campaigns. Heirs of Fate is loosely plot related, but mostly AU stuff with the second gen and you should still hold back on it until you've beaten all three stories.
DLC maps that don't spoil the plot that I would recommend are Boo Camp (EXP grinding map, even letting you grind in Conquest when you can't grind otherwise on that path), Ghostly Gold (Money farming map, also lets you grind money in Conquest when you can't otherwise), and Museum Melee (item farming map, though you're not likely to get exactly rare stuff as opposed to Awakening's Infinite Regalia, though it's still a pretty fun map). Anna on the Run lets you recruit Anna after you beat it, though just like in Awakening she can only support with the Avatar. Ballistician Blitz and Witches' Trial give you access to the Ballistician (male only) and Witch (female only) classes, and apparently Vanguard Dawn gives you access to the Vanguard class. Before Awakening is free and it's a pretty cute throwback map though there's not much substance to it (though you do get the item to change any female to the Great Lord class after you beat it the first time).
Granted, I haven't bought all the DLC so maybe you'll enjoy some other ones that I didn't buy. :P
tl;dr I recommend going from Birthright to Conquest to Revelation, then getting the Hidden Truths and Heirs of Fates DLC maps. As for non-plot related DLC, I recommend Boo Ccamp, Ghostly Gold, Museum Melee, Before Awakening, and Anna on the Run. I haven't bought Ballistician Blitz, Witches' Trial or Vanguard Dawn but you might be interested in the classes they give you.

I went through all three stories without them, though I also played on casual mode for all of them so it might depend on your difficulty preferences. :P I mostly bought them after I beat the game to give me some map variety when grinding supports lol. So I guess it really depends on how you wanna play. I'd suggest playing a bit of the story first and then deciding whether you really need these classes right now or not, as they're by no means necessary to beat the game (on normal-casual and hard-casual, at least :p )

Definitely get boo camp and ghostly gold, I didn't regret it on my second conquest playthrough, particularly because I had to do phoenix to get through it, I did casual on the second time with those two dlc.
Also best order is
Birthright -> conquest -> revelations
Like others said, play revelations last

Well playing Birthright now. Got to the point where it's asked me to defend or attack one side or the other. I'm scratching my head because I already bought Birthright, how can I now switch back to the other side? Anyway felt obligated to stick with my new family, though there are some nice looking girls over there. Course there are nice looking girls in my new family also ... but they are my sisters so ... I'll assume that's not allowed.

You can marry practically everyone, sisters included as (they're not actually related to you), switch back to the other side? as in going the conquest route? you can't actually have accessibility to everyone until you play revelations btw, right now in birthright and conquest you're picking one side.
So basically you have a few characters that join you (like kaze, felicia, mozu, etc) regardless of your route, but then the royal families, their retainers, and some others specific to the route will only join you in that specific game (birthright is pretty much hoshido specific characters, nohr is the same for nohrians, and then revelations you get most of the characters you see in the first two games (excluding a few cases).

Ok, so I'm in the battle in chapter 9 currently and I'm having to pull a lot of my characters out of the playing field because they are level 10 and I don't want them to level anymore until I can use a Master Seal on them. The problem is I can't find any more. I bought two from the rod shop and used those on the PC and Hana, but I have several more at level ten but I can't get them a seal. When/where do I get some more Master Seals?
Who makes a good spouse? I can marry the flame tribe girl now, but was wanting to hold off a while to see to see others confession scenes (I saw Rinkah's, then reloaded). Also when is the best time to go ahead and start pairing up people and the PC?
Lastly I have no idea how the parent/child thing works in this game, as far as who begets who. Is there a good list somewhere or chart for this?
Thanks.

It's much later in the game when you upgrade the items/spells/etc shop to level 3 that you have access to master seals, (like chapter 12-19) characters can continue to increase their levels and you want to do so, higher levels before they upgrade allow them to have better stats in the long run.
There are statistics and charts that let you know the best combinations for offspring, but, personally I like to stick with the characters I liked the most (even if their in-game stats were complete bs) However, if you're playing casually, the concern for children with the best stats goes down as the game doesn't rely on the best of the best to be used. (hardcore is where this comes into play) so ultimately it's your decision.
The best time is difficult to say as it depends on whether you want to match all possible in each individual route (as you'll have revelations pairings to cover as well) but I believe all characters are in by chapter 15. It's been a while since I played hoshido; however, for the most part I initially saw all possible pairings (saving marriage scenes in a second file to keep it logged in the actual game's support conversation log thing) and then in later playthroughs I went with those I liked the most.
Children magically grow to adulthood through special means, there's no storyline specifics, I believe fire emblem developers held onto what they believed made fire emblem awakening popular, the child mechanic being one of them (which made sense for awakening, not so much fates however)

Thanks. I did finally find some charts.
Stats are not a real issue for me as I'm not a hardcore stat cruncher anyway.
I've always had a weakness for girls with Pegasus (since my old D&D days) so I figured I'd hook up Hinoka and Subaki and then see what their daughter is like. If I don't like her then well ... don't know actually I'll have to just get to know the others.
PS - I wonder if hooking up Sakura and Hayato will yield a pink haired Rhajat (i.e. Tharja).

Well caledori looks and i believe acts kind of like cordelia (without the chrom obsession), and here are the hair colors for rajat via mothers http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/fir ... 0919165258
