The last shiny I actively hunted for last year absolutely destroyed my soul, so now I just let luck decide.

It was volcarona in white 2, btw.

My most recent one was a poliwag I found while hunting for politoed in moon. It is now a precious poliwrath.

I love to hunt shiny Pokemon, but I've pretty much given up shiny hunting in Sun/Moon, because SOS annoys me and I hate Masuda method, so I've gone back to Gen 6 with its hordes, DexNav, Friend Safaris and PokeRadar.

@Getaris: Destroy your soul? Boy I know that feeling. I love the thrill of the hunt, though. So that's why I keep going.

@Katherine: I actually got a shiny in just 23 eggs with Masuda in Moon. But both methods in Sun/Moon are a huge pain.

A little tip for egg shinies, the eggs in this game are predetermined. I think about 30 in advance. Not sure how that works really, but you will always get the same eggs even if you reload a previous save.

Even if you change one of the parents, a few things are permanently set in stone. Shininess is one of those... So if you save before receiving the shiny egg... You can switch out the Pokemon to get the shiny you want.

Does this mean I'm screwed if I switch Pokemon to try for a different shiny?

Not sure why would you be screwed. You can literally change the Pokemon and still get the shiny.

It does, however, mean that you a absolutely need to receive and hatch all the eggs and release them manually. Before you could get a batch of five, hatch and reset.

Ok, I just meant if I had to start all over again and hatch all those same number eggs I did before I switched. My bad. ^^; Sorry about my poor wording.

So I guess I just keep hatching eggs, then, right?

Oh yes sorry. If you reload to a file from before you hatched x amount of eggs, then you will be stuck hatching the same not-shiny eggs all over again.

Ok, here's what I did.

1. Hatched 200+ eggs (no shiny)
2. Swapped a parent
3. Saved the game
4. Started hatching

Well it should be fine, you don't know what the next batch of eggs will bring you, but if you get a shiny in the next thirty eggs or so, then that means that egg will always be shiny regardless of the parent.

Thank you so much. I was worried that I f*cked myself over by doing that.

I'm just waiting on luck this time around. But no luck. I think this will be one of the few where I never get one.

My son did chain an SOS battle and got a shiny Feebas, which he's already evolved. Between my daughter, myself and him that's the only shiny we've seen.

I don't really actively hunt for shinies, but I have started IV breeding to get those last couple of stamps from the battle tree. I'be completed the 'dex and got the shiny charm, but the only shiny I've seen so far has been a shiny Hypno. I mean, it's purple, so I'm not gonna complain, but...
It's still less than the shiny Yanma and Pumpkaboo I found in Y without SOS or a charm unlocked. >.>"

I got a shiny Breloom in a safari without the shiny charm in Y. All I wanted was to see what was in a friend safari. lol
