New Fire Emblem News!
^You have until May 19th for Echoes! You can do eeet!
I played over 200 hours of both Awakening and Fates and i'm ready for a classic game with a new fresh coat of paint. I've really been missing the older games lately and I always wanted to play Gaiden, but just never got around to it.
I'm not planning on getting the Switch at launch, but a few months after once I have a little bit more money to throw around. I'll probably get Echoes for my Birthday as it comes out a week after it. The Direct made it sound like it was going to be an eShop exclusive but there's English box art and two special editions coming out in Japan. I was under impression that this was going to be a bit more of a budget title, but I guess I was wrong.

Mark me up as another one who still needs to finish Fates (or at least my Comquest run!) I'm really excited about Echoes, it'll be nice to play one of the older games as someone who only started with Awakening. It comes out the last day of exams as well, so it would be a nice reward. I'll probably get the mobile game too and waste plenty of time on it at work. I'm interested in the Switch titles - don't have a new 3DS so Warriors would have to be Switch - I liked the demo of Hyrule Warriors I played so it all just depends on whether Nintendo can convince me to get a Switch. Wouldn't be for a While anyway since I'm drowning in games (and I guess 8I should also pay attention to coursework and stuff, how inconvenient!)

It's weird seeing FE going from a C tier Nintendo franchise to A tier in a gen. I don't even really know why that occurred but... Whatever.
I don't even own Fates or Awakening yet. I'm like 1/3rd through the GBA one (not the one with the twins, the Roy prequel one). I wonder if this will get a Switch port. I had feared that FE would become handheld-only, but the Switch's dual capabilities makes that a null point.

Pretty much, the super weebs saved the franchise. Awakening was to be the last game in the series, so they pulled out all the stops and made one of the main draw points that you could marry any character the opposite gender of your MC and have children with them.Anonymous Fish wrote:It's weird seeing FE going from a C tier Nintendo franchise to A tier in a gen. The game sold like hotcakes. They managed to do the same thing with Fates and made even more money. The newcomers + the old fans have made the fanbase larger than ever before. The only thing that's been a failure since making FE one of their main series again is Tokyo Mirage Sessions, which is still a stellar game, just not the FExSMT crossover people wanted + It came out on a system that was pretty much dead on arrival.

I'm curious about the game modes. My first FE game was Sacred Stones on the old GBA. I've played all the US versions on handhelds since, but the biggest changes were in Awakening and I loved them. But I'll admit if I loss a character I like during a battle I would shut off and start over, so the more casual mode was very well received by me. Curious if they will add the new game modes or just stick with the original system. I think by now they've picked up on why people are playing these games again so I hope they don't lose sight of that. The best option is always to give people an option and let them play the way they want.Terranigma Freak wrote:Fire Emblem Gaiden needs more love. Hopefully the remake will tweak some of the maps. A lot of the maps in Gaiden suffers from being very boring.
Was Tokyo Mirage Sessions really an FE game? It was developed my Atlus and I'm pretty sure it's just Persona 4 but instead of summoning your Persona, you summoned characters from Awakening ^^" (it's literally SMT backwards) I'm going to say it was more of a « Cow Poopy » attempt at Altus trying to be cool rather than FE becoming their main series since Intelligence's name isn't even on it. Atlus had full control of the game but they f'ed up so hard (as in I wanted SMT and not Persona and I wanted more ACTUAL FE like the teaser promised and not Chrom). I have not played the game so I can't say, I'm honestly planning to stay away from it but do send me a message if it's actually a good game. I buy all of Altus' overpriced « Puppy Doodoo »Bluie wrote:

I didn't know Awakening was going to be the last, I'm actually glad it wasn't but I do see why Awakening would sell well. I'm always excited to choose to be a female and I'm sure the game would have sold well just from having that option. Making babies was just a nice big +. I hope there aren't any weird additions to these new games though. I personally hated Phoenix mode in Fates and I hope it does not come back in any of these. I also didn't like buying 3 separate paths..sure they were each their own game but I hope to not spend $100 on a single game ever again ^^" (I also bought dlc). They're already hinting at "characters you can purchase" for the mobile one so I'm a bit apprehensive and trying not to get too hyped about these...

I've been obsessed with Hyrule Warriors lately. It's just so fun. I'm dang hyped for Fire Emblem Warriors but also worried. The only FE's I have played are the two English GBA games. I know HW assumes you're a huge LoZ fan and just spoils you constantly. I expect no different from FEW.
I'm also worried, or really just peeved, because I expect the game to focus on the 3DS characters mostly. My favorite characters are from Sacred Stones. Afaik, Sacred Stones is the only game in its 'verse and so I expect it to get minimum love. HW was very centric on the 3D console games until the DLC happened. I expect no different--all the old characters will be DLC.
