I think Purrfect works, though, since it's a cat themed house, not a dog-themed one. Or are there also dog images in there? (I suppose paw-prints could be either.) It could be the Purrfect Palace or something.

The house itself is shaped like dog, actually. You can see two floopy brown ears at the roof. There is also a bone decoration near the mailbox and in the living room, along with two dog figures.

Oh, so it is. I didn't notice the bones anywhere...and I only noticed a little face on the main part of the house (didn't notice the ears) and the big blue cat head/face that makes up the rough of the 'horse parking' section.

I'm not sure what would be a good dog pun (or a combined dog and cat pun).
I'll change 'CAT' to 'PET' in the original post, then.

The wizard mansion looks like a typical player house in Final Fantasy XIV. The dining room (or sitting room?) looks like the Allagan ceiling lamp. The paneled walls look like the standard Limsa Lominsa wallpaper. I'm...i'm not sure how I feel about it...hmm...

Is there just a regular house default style or do you have to choose one of these styles?

House starts as a Western Style Building (if you can even call that a style. It is literally a bunch of brown-gray planks nailed together, but the first upgrade makes it more distinct), so the Western one is probably the canon default. However, at some point during the upgrade process (I think the third house/second upgrade?) you get to choose between a Western, Tropical, and Japanese themed house.

This post shows you the house you're given in the start and what it looks like when you upgrade it the first time. You don't get a choice the first time...it automatically looks like that. With that wagon-wheel on it I'd definitely say it was a western/Westown style.
Then, if you upgrade it again, you'll get a choice of
3 styles. Starting with here, I believe (or maybe the next one) you can choose your exterior and interior separately, if you want to mix them.
To reach the final styles, you still have to go through one more upgrade with only the three basic choices, which you can see
here.
Then the 12 styles shown in the original post become available

You don't HAVE to choose one of them, as far as I know, but you pretty much do have to choose one of the 3 basic ones in the second upgrade...I don't think you can get through the game without upgrading the second time. I'd have to check on that to be sure, though.
EDIT: A lot (maybe all, not sure) of the final styles have their own unlock conditions. The Jungle mansion, for example, won't be available until you reach B rank with Lulukoko. Those requirements are listed in the links in the first post. Personally, for those two upgrades where you only have 3 choices, I'll choose Lulukoko, as I like bright colours.

Oooooo!
So you're allowed to choose an exterior and go for a different interior?
I really love the Wizard exterior. *_* And I'd maybe go for one of the Japanese style interiors idk.

This thread is making my contrary nature rise to the surface -____-
So many people like the same exterior as me (Wizard) that I feel like I'm going to have to change to my second choice (modern Japanese). Well...it'd be a set with my favourite interior that way, anyway, but honestly, am I 2? If everyone else is gonna have it, I don't want it? What difference does it even make? Lol.

^ Lol I'm the same but I try to actively repress those thoughts because it's soooo silly omg. I guess people just like being original?? But if something is clearly the best choice, then I don't want to deprive myself of it, right?
like. that wizard exterior is beautiful.

It is! Silly behaviour, beautiful exterior. However, since I like the Modern Japanese exterior nearly as much, the popularity issue may sway me, in the end. (Also it matches my preferred interior better. Obviously, since they're a set, lol.) Honestly, a lot of these interiors/exteriors are beautiful. I only
really like the Wizard/Modern Japanese for exterior, though. The interiors are harder to choose from, but I prefer lighter, brighter colours, for the most part.
This may be a deciding factor in my bachelor choice, too. I like all of the 'regular' candidates, and if it comes down to a crunch between a more popular and a less popular character, the lesser popularity of one candidate may be what chooses him for me. -___- I try to resist, lol. If I LOVE something, clearly far and away more than the next thing, popularity doesn't matter. But if it's between two things I like almost the same amount, to the point that I make a pro/con list to decide, 'very popular' goes on the 'con' list...
Oh! Speaking of ways to choose between things like this...does anyone feel inclined to choose their house style according to their significant others' place of origin? Like, if you marry Yuzuki, would you look more favourably upon the Japanese styles than you would if you married Ludus? I feel a little that way...but it couldn't make me choose a look I dislike over one I like, just give it a tiny edge in a fair competition.

Yeahhh I was just thinking that I might choose my house based on who I'm planning to marry in that file! Like. I don't like the western style themes at all, but I think it'd be kind of sweet if I was marrying Wayne. Gotta make my spouse happy ykno ykno

I'm usually the one that's different, but when I'm in a crowd I tend to just go with it.
Modern Japanese is my second choice. Though I probably only use it if I marry Yuzuki or Hinata. So I would say that the style is somewhat affected by my spouse.
My favorite is the Music Hall. Though I'm pretty biased. I play the saxophone (can't improv) so it'll be the personal jazz studio that I can't afford in real life. Besides, it looks really classy to me. I'm curious if the other Music Hall votes are musical people in real life or if they just like style. I would love to know how many musical farmers we have.
