I think pretty much all of them are good. The only ones I don't like are the Pet house and the Gold house. The Pet house because I'm not a fan of the color pink, and the Gold house because it's way too bright for me.
As a whole, my favorite is the Wizard house. I also really like the interior of the Under The Sea house, but the exterior is kind of ugly, IMO.

I also dislike the exterior of the under-sea one...too small-looking, and strangely pyramidal. But you could have the Wizard exterior with the Under-the-sea interior, if you wanted. :)

Like with furmiliars, I'm never going to stop groaning at whatever pun they translate the pet house's name into, assuming they do make a pun. Although it's probably pretty likely since it was a pun in the original. As for my opinions, the ones I like most are the Wizard exterior and the Live House interior though I like the Pet and Undersea interiors too.

Also @Lenna36 I've played piano since I was 4-5 and flute for the past 3 years so I'm probably very biased ^.^. But in my defence that grand piano is gorgeous.

*screams softly* Goodness I ADORE the Japanese style options in this game! And I really like Wizard style to it's so cool looking! The glyphs on the floor of the living room are especially a nice touch. I'm really happy we'll be able to choose the interior and exterior style of our house (customization YAAASS)

The Imperial Japanese theme is my personal favorite, but for in game I'm definitely going to go for the Japanese Mansion for the exterior and the Modern Japanese for the interior. I just really like the traditional look of the exterior of the Japanese mansion and how the modern version has a nice combination of traditional with a slight touch of western (that tea set in the corner of the living room ). The record player is a great bonus to the to!

Ditto. I hate decorating the inside of my house so I'm excited to have layouts that coordinate, but I really wish they were changeable on a room-by-room basis rather than as an all at once thing. Or something like that.

The only game I liked arranging the furniture on a piece by piece basis are the ones like Animal Parade, where you have a more sim-like house editing mode. I dislike my farmer carrying refrigerators basically.

PS: I really like the pet-styled house. I wonder how XSEED will localize that pun. Purrfect Mansion, maybe? Though it does lose the "wan" (bark) bit of the pun that way.
Bow-wow Meownsion?

I think I want the outside to be the wanyanderful style and the inside to be the wizard style. Or vice versa. I love animals and I prefer magical creatures over humans so a magical vibe is something I've always wanted

So we can choose an different interior and exterior, eh? Pretty cool (those prices...)

Overall love the Wizard look inside and out but mostly the interior.

The costs ARE quite high, aren't they? But I don't know how money works in Trio, yet. Maybe it's just high inflation and your sales earnings will be high, too :) But final house styles in SoS were also 750,000 to 1,000,000 for the exterior (2,000,000 for the 'gold' house) in veteran, so the prices seem comparable.

Oh. I also don't know if those are 'veteran' prices or if they'll be lowered if you choose 'seedling'.

EDIT: Checked. The prices listed are the FULL prices. It's cheaper if you're playing the easier mode. It looks like you can get a 10% discount? I'm not entirely clear on the modes, yet.

Yes it's gorgeous. I love it even though I don't play piano myself.

I tried learning the flute. My dad got a cheap one thinking he would learn. He couldn't make a sound out of it so he sold it to me. I didn't have the time to practice so it didn't go anywhere. It's been 3 years since I've played any instrument. The lady in the downstairs apartment hates noise, and I'm too polite to be a bother. I want to play my saxophone again. :( Maybe I'll ask her if I could. She seems to like me so maybe she won't mind if I play.

I agree I hate puns too.

Lenna36...while I know it's off topic for me to comment on it, I think she's really be okay with it if you said something like 'would there be a time of day less disruptive/bothersome to you for me to practice my music?' If she said no to even such a reasonable request, that would be surprising.

Btw, does anyone know exactly what you get in Seedling mode as opposed to Veteran? (If those are still what the modes are called in Trio.) It looks to me like you get 10% off housing prices, but I'm not certain. I checked my links, but when I saw the discounted price it was listed as the 'discount meal bonus' or something like that, so I'm a little confused.

There's a meal bonus that lets you buy stuff at a lower price. :)

You know how in SoS, if you equipped certain accessories together, they'd give you bonuses? Well, eating does that now (and some select outfits). There's a bunch of these buffs. Like stamina regen, time moving slower/faster, walking speed increase, increased fishing and so on. They only last for a little bit of time, I guess the accessory combos were too OP. But you can have multiple beneficial buffs granted to you from eating the same dish.

If you have ever seen a screenshot where there are colored square icons under the player's health bar, those are the buff icons.

Food power!

Not sure about Seedling/Original Mode difficulty in this one. I've barely used the Japanese wiki, which usually has a lot of this kind of information. Mostly because can't read Japanese and I have limited patience for making sense of the goop that comes out of translation apps. The names for some things (the Milker especially) do tend to come out hilarious tho. /ponder

Ha ha, no way! I mean, I knew eating had bonuses in Trio, but I had NO idea that there were things you could eat to reduce prices! That's so ridiculous, it's great, lol. :)

Hmm, perhaps we need a Veteran/Seedling mode thread. (EDIT: Decided there should, so I made one.) I don't know anything about how it works in Trio...if it's basically the same as SoS was or if it's different. All I know is that there are different modes...

Thanks, Arcy. Ha ha, meal discounts...this game. It's going to be fun. :)

Gohan power! (Shamelessly cribbed from http://wikiwiki.jp/boku3sato/ )

Image - Reduced stamina loss.
Image - Stamina regen.
Image - Friendship gain increased.
Image - Running speed increased.
Image - Shop prices discounted.
Image - Fishing boosted.
Image - Passage of time sped up.
Image - Passage of time slowed down.

The last two can overwrite each other. IIRC, you don't know which boosts a given meal has until you eat it for the first time, so keeping some kind of time slowing food on your person would probably be smart if you're eating random stuff to see what it does. No idea how hard it is to get.

Most of the time slowing food recipes are obtained as prizes of the festivals or some events with Misra (the archeologist). However there is one "easy" to get which is gratin? グラタン which you can buy at the restaurant of Westown after shipping 400 cooked dishes to Westown (just buy one ingredient recipes like hot milk, and you will reach that number easily), which only needs wheat flour (which you buy at Westown), milk and cheese (which you get from your cows and/or buy at Westown, and you are required to build the cheese maker at some point), carrots and broccoli, which you can already grow during the first year. So, while you won't be able to cook it before winter of year 1, I don't think you actually need it before. In addition, it also increases running speed, stamina regen and reduced stamina loss. I eat one as soon as I wake up, and the effect lasts 10 hours (i.e., from 6:00 to 16:00). After that I usually eat an omelett (egg + butter) which increases running speed, since once you try the boost, you will feel very slow when it is not active.

I usually leave the eating random stuff to the end of the day, when all my chores are done so that I do not need to worry about time going too fast.

I'm really thankful for all the recipe/cooking/food information, it's both useful and interesting to me, but... if anyone wants to continue to discuss meals/bonus effects, could you make a thread for it? It's just that it's not at all on the topic of house styles, any more. Sorry. Thanks :)

EDIT: Nevermind...I didn't want the info to stop or get lost since it is super useful, so I made a thread for it, here: http://fogu.com/hmforum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=171281

I think I'm the one who got off topic. Sorry everyone, I'll try to remain focused. Thanks for the advice Kikki. I'm sure she'll let me, just need a chance to ask her.

I know that if I didn't have the musical background, the music hall wouldn't have been my favorite. The golden house and the pet one are the only ones that have no appeal to me. They're too bright for me. I usually go for the darker tones.
