Amazon.com seems to be a much larger outfit...they probably have more buying power and get their stock earlier, most of the time...amazon.ca doesn't seem to, so they rarely get things shipped early enough to qualify for release-day delivery. Meh...I've kept an order in with them for now, but we'll see when the day comes...I'm pretty sure I'll end up buying digitally and possibly keeping the hard copy as a reserve.

It's likely that the delivery date is set as pending as Amazon may have not received their stock yet, or have only received partial stock from the manufacturer.
I still have faith that Amazon will get me the product on time, if they receive it in time.

It's great that Amazon.com fixed the date! I'm going to keep my GS pre-order though because they kinda just made me mad and I don't want to give them my money lol.

I went and just paid off my order to gamestop, I hope everyone gets theirs at a reasonable time. I really think all our constant insistence is what made amazon really check out what the date was. I mean all of us were complaining that the date was not right and yet they gave us the run around. I guess it took a couple of people to cancel their orders to make them look into things.

Hooray for everyone who doesn't have to worry about waiting 2 months for the game! I imagine Amazon must've lost a bunch of orders from people who noticed the whole commotion, though...

I was thinking the same thing, they kind of shot themselves in the foot on that one. Although considering the scale of Amazon, it's not like the sales on a niche game are a huge deal, moreso just their reputation when you've pissed off those customers. It's a shame because I've had nothing but great experiences with them (.ca, though).
Anyways so glad to hear that it was all cleared up, especially for those of you who had to go through Amazon regardless!

As one of those people, the sentiment is appreciated.
But yeah, this is the first time for issues here too. Hubs even had to talk to them 3 times over a 3rd party shipper screwing us over big time and they were helpful then even. This has been so really weird IDEK.
Of course it's my thing that had to be a jerk, considering I NEVER have money for things.

Altho Amazon.com has updated the Release Date info, I'm not being reassured I'll be getting my games on release day, which I'm sure I remember reading that I would, when I placed my pre-order. May end up going with GameStop anyway, despite the Prime Savings.
Hello,
I've reviewed our previous correspondence with you, and I'm very sorry about the incorrect information you received.
I apologize for any misunderstanding about the delivery estimate for your order. We rely on the manufacturer for release date information, and they've indicated that "Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns - Nintendo 3DS " will be released on February 28, 2017.
Once this item has been released and we receive copies, we'll be able to ship it to you. It's not uncommon for there to be a delay of several weeks between the release and distribution of a new publication.
ETA- I'd sent them another email earlier, & just got a response. I just quoted the important bit this time around.
We assure that you receive your order by February 28, 2017 on the release date. Please feel free about this. You'll receive your video game on the release date itself.
This has made my daughter & I very happy!

Im not in a giant rush for the game, so I've kept my order with Amazon. I'm glad that they fixed the whole issue though. Like yeah I want the game, but I'm going to be too busy with work and school to play a whole lot so getting it late would just make it less likely for me to get distracted and procrastinate on things lol. Really happy the whole thing has been fixed and sorted out though since I know I'm the oddball out when it comes to that!!

Well, I'm glad that Amazon fixed the release date... the whole thing has left a bad taste in my mouth though. I meant to post here a couple days ago that I sent Amazon an email, too, and I definitely see the whole blame game going on in it. So many primary sources of 'we got the wrong date' ignored, man. If it weren't for the fact that so much info was floating around already (and I gave sources), my email would have felt like a really good chance for co-correspondence, I think.
(First spoiler is the mail I sent them, second spoiler is the response I got)
Spoiler:
Other info:Release Date
Comments:Hey Amazon!
I noticed that the listed Release Date for "Story of Seasons:Trio of Towns" has been moved to May 2nd, 2017. However, the game's street release is for February 28th--making Amazon's date just over two months late. There's a huge uproar in the SoS:3oT community about this, and a lot of folks are canceling their Amazon pre-orders because of this.
I was hoping you could shine some light on the issue?
Is May a typo; should it actually read March 2nd? Since March 2nd would only be 2 days late, which is reasonable; 2 months late is not.
If Amazon's stock of SoS:3oT isn't coming in until 2 months late, is it likely that the Capybara plushie will no longer come with the orders? The Capy is a large incentive to pre-order, afterall.
Thank you for your time for all of these pre-order emails you've been getting recently. Cheers!

Despite everything I'll probably keep my order, though. I'm doing 16 college credits and really don't have the time or transportation to pick up a copy of the game in a timely manner. Plus, total cost 31.99 is pretty good. That's the same cost of getting my (treat) dinner today, lol.

I'm hoping Amazon will live up to their standards, but I'm getting so tired of the runaround. I specifically asked about my delivery date and they still couldn't confirm anything to me. I'm gonna wait a week to make sure, but if I don't see a change I'm gonna have to go with GameStop :/
This is what I sent:
Spoiler:
Hello,
I've contacted you guys a couple of times about this order, and I just want to make sure that I will receive this item on release day. That's what was guaranteed when I initially pre-ordered, however, with all of the issues with this title on Amazon I want to make sure. Every time I've spoken with someone previously they told me to contact the manufacturer, however, I already know what the manufacturer has said. I just need to know whether or not you guys will be sending the item so I can have it on release day?
Thank you for your time.
This is the response:
Spoiler:
Hello,
I understand you're concerned about the Release-Date Delivery.
I've checked the product detail page on Amazon.com, and it looks like "Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns - Nintendo 3D" is not currently eligible for Release-Date Delivery.
However, I can confirm that this item will be released on February 28, 2017.
We only offer the Release-Date Delivery option when we know we can get the item from our suppliers in time to meet our delivery promise to you. It's possible that this item will become eligible as the release date gets closer and we've confirmed our inventory.
At this time, I can only suggest that you keep checking the item's detail page on our website:
Whenever an item becomes eligible for Release-Date Delivery, that information is posted on its product detail page. Eligibility for Release-Date Delivery is also indicated when you're placing your order or at checkout. If the option doesn't appear, either the item or the shipping address is not eligible.
You can find more information about Release-Date Delivery on our Help pages:
I'm so sorry, but we can't offer any additional insight or action on this matter.
We appreciate your business and hope to see you again soon.

I'm really sorry you keep getting the runaround. I hate that he ignored the fact that you'd already told him the game Was eligible for Release-Day Delivery when you'd pre-ordered it. I remembered seeing the same thing, and I didn't pre-order until late Jan.
I just love how they keep telling us all different things.
idk how retail works, but I can't understand why they would be concerned enough about a product not being on hand to ship, that they are incapable of answering a simple question.
Once this item has been released and we receive copies, we'll be able to ship it to you. It's not uncommon for there to be a delay of several weeks between the release and distribution of a new publication.
I'm sorry. I was hoping you could explain what you mean by this?? Does this mean that I won't be receiving my games on the day of release?? Can you please tell me how long after release that it may be before I do get them?? Are we talking 1 week? 2 weeks?
These are all questions I need answers to, to help me determine if I keep my order or not.
Thank you.
Whenever an item becomes eligible for Release-Date Delivery, that information is posted on its product detail page.
Does anyone happen to know where to find that info for this game??

I looked at Breath of the Wild and "want to receive this item the day it comes out? Select two-day shipping at checkout" shows up just beneath the release date. I didn't see that on 3oT's page.

Once upon a time all I bought were physical games, then I discovered the eshop... So my patience went out the door with it. I must play it as soon as it comes out

Today Amazon told me that when they receive their stock of the game, they will update the delivery information. I am incredulous that they haven't received their inventory yet, but I guess anything is possible. However...
I had argued that I preordered this game in July, and BoTW the day it was announced, and that BoTW has been showing that it will be delivered to me on its release day for QUITE some time, but not SoS. However, that got me nowhere. And it makes no sense that BoTW was showing to be delivered on release day at least couple months earlier than it's release (Amazon had stock that early!?), but this game is two weeks away and still they are unable to confirm. Blergh.
