Wall of text because I want to answer all the questions asked so far (and am putting off doing actual work at work hue hue hue).

1: I will use all my stamina to clear my farm and then work on making it as functional as possible. Decorating comes later.

2: Learn an easy part of their schedule (usually first thing in the morning or late at night) and aim for visiting then. I will invariably end up caught up in farm chores and run around hunting for them randomly/chaotically during midday though.

3: I don't mind losing in year 1 (I actually think it is kind of nice and realistic), so while I aim to participate in every festival I don't worry about winning until Year 2.

4: I go for fully functional at first, and then I start decorating as time goes on, making it look nice as I go. I will always work to have a pretty farm, ideally with lots of sunflowers, before I stop playing though.

5: Vetran. I did Vetran in SoS and unlocked all vendors on File 1, and all but Tropical on File 2 (and wooed Elise on File 2), so I enjoy long-term goals, even if they can get tedious (Ie fodder growing ugh).

6: Although my character isn't me, I usually pick Summer 9 for my birthday as my real one is June 9th. I used to pick Winter 24 but I got tired of it conflicting with the Starry Night festival. I always forget it is my birthday in game though until a character brings it up.

7: I usually am not very extravagant when gift giving, but I do do it. I usually go for the easy liked gifts and spam them as much as I can for a few people. (Unless it is like ANB or SI where giving gifts to everyone has a point (blueprints and sunstones specifically), then I give gifts to everyone. I am planning on just gifting a few people in 3oT.

Question 7: Last game, I tended to give butterflies and flowers to everyone but the candidates I was going for (they get the special treatment). Crops are valuable money, yo. If they had a better liked gift that was easy to get, like Milk Tea or something, I'd offer those up when I had time to make them. The quick greet option now sounds really useful for building up villager hearts this time around.

Q7: I tend not to get too extravagant. I prefer getting the easiest liked item and stocking up on that. Otherwise it's just too much. I try to gift multiple people in a day to cover more ground and my brain can't handle all the stuff I have to remember. @_@

I do try to aim for the special gift for the bachelor/bachelorette of choice but sometimes I don't ever get to that. If I happen to come across a special gift for someone else I'll make that more often because obviously I already got it. That's how it goes for the villagers also, if I already have the gift for them then I'll just start prioritizing them whether I like them or not.

Usually my b-day ((Spring 27th)) or my OC's ((Winter 16th)). Very rarely a character's b-day if I know it and am playing them. If I don't they get stuck with mine or a weird guess.

And gifting is utter chaos ((almost capitalized that lmao)), partially depending what I have vs what they like. Partially how I feel. Partially character interaction/how I feel about them. No set thing.

#7: I just do my real bday (Spring 2). That is also the day Ash from ToTT proposed. He shouldn't have

  • Question 7: How extravagant are you while gift giving? Do you even gift or just leave all up to contests? Will you change this for the new SoS: ToT?
(Feel free to use/add to this if more people want to answer in a batch.)
The questions are in the spoiler, thanks Arcy!

Question 8: So, how many of you actually feed your farmer food?

Since meal bonus is a thing now, I'm sure people will be inclined to eat food now, but let's talk about what we were doing before this awesome feature. Did you guys even eat? I actually ate at the restaurant, but I never cooked and ate for myself, ever. And if the restaurant was closed? No food for you buddy. And once I got the recipes from the restaurant and the stamina accessory combo, I used to go for months without any food.

But it wasn't always like this. There was this one game in which you were supposed to 'purchase' your meals in batches (HM1 I think), so I bought those. But I almost never cook and eat myself. I guess my farmer eats in their sleep or something :P

In the older games the only time I'd feed my farmer was if I desperately needed the energy or if it was something like the 'drink 10 soda' note in MM. With ANB and SoS, since there was the health meter in addition to stamina, I'd eat at least once a day (usually lunch with the spouse in ANB). Other than that I'd keep food on hand for stamina (til I finally got the highest stamina recovery combo in SoS)
I'll definitely be feeding the farmer in 3oT with those bonuses though

Since we're talking about past games, it really depended on the game and what I was doing. For most days pre marriage in SoS, my farmer never ate. But post marriage I usually tried to get them to have one meal a day just to see the dialogue. I often would eat when clearing the field or harvesting crops when I was working on unlocking the last two vendors, because I hated leaving half a field of trees standing or whatever. So when my farmer had a lot of things to harvest or water or whatever, they actually ate.

I'm excited for the meal changes in the next game though. Makes it sound way more useful. I kind of miss the old HMs where you'd see them eating a meal every morning though, just to feel like they were actually eating. (Or the REALLY old ones where them eating or drinking was your noon and 6pm signals.)

Question #8

In ANB, I would eat once a day since we had that health meter thing and I didn't want my farmer to get sick. I would usually eat something simple though, I never went out of my way to make something fancy for myself. In SoS, I only cook so I can sell the dish for unlocking the vendors. My farmer ate at the restaurant to get the recipes. Other times I would eat is if I needed more stamina to do stuff during the day.

Do I need to eat or else it incurs some sort of penalty? Can I get prizes for eating? Yes.

Food that restores stamina without stealing a significant portion of time units? Always.

Can I eat it from the rucksack menu without wasting a single second? That food is now Nectar & Ambrosia and angels sing hallelujah from the heavens every time I eat it...

Does it give me a buff? ... and also all the beasts of the field join in the heavenly chorus and mankind achieves world peace.

Food that takes more than 15 in-game minutes to "eat"? Never.

This is honestly why I'm not very into the Popularity trait. IIRC it steals an hour.

I eat when I need stamina and have no other way to get it. Otherwise it doesn't really matter either way to me. Let them starve!

Thanks for the question batch! Gonna answer them all.

1: Exploring! Having a general idea of where the npcs live and shops are is pretty important for me. I'd like to know where to find where I want to go.

2: Gift spam for the ones I like best. They'll get gifted either before or after I finish my farm work. Festivals are a great way for me to raise FP too, I remember getting most bachelors to a red heart in anb by talking to them during festivals.

3: I either win or I won't, doesn't really matter to me. I try to participate as often as possible for the FP boost.

4: My farms look horrible most of the time.
I tried drawing a map for sos once, but it never worked out and my farm remained...functional.

5: Veteran, I like my video games as hard as possible.

6: I use my real birthday most of the time, unless A) there's a calendar and B) I share my birthday with somebody else. Actually had to change my birthday to spring 1 in sos because of this. ;;

7: Depends on the character. To be honest I only gift the bachelor(ettes), and leave the other characters up to the festivals.

8: Never, unless I really have to. My character in sos took a lot of trips to the restaurant to eat in the beginning, until I got the accessories.
i'm pretty sure she never ever set foot in there again after that whoops

Fun questions!

I usually don't unless I get the food free or I want to reach the bottom floor of the mine (AP/ToT, FoMT, etc.)

There is no way I won't be eating loads in Trio. I want those friendship bonus, and the speed running, and the store discounts! But if it's previous games, I didn't eat that often. I don't remember doing it much at all in ANB, and only in SoS when I had a meal with the spouse or if I had planted more than I could take care of with one batch of stamina.

Before SoS I only really ate anything in games where you had to. In SoS tho I started eating everyday, at first cos I really needed the stamina but then I got into cooking for a bit of realism, and was fun :P

Seems it's easy in this game to continue doing that, with all the buffs  So definitely eating every day.
