Eating beyond necessity really heavily depended on how much I was feeling the RP aspects vs pure gameplay.

Sometimes I'd cook and eat to do it, foods I thought sounded yummy. Other times all business.

Question 8: In my previous games, my farmer never saw food. Well not unless it was a gift for someone else. :o

In my previous games, I usually hoard all the dishes given to my character and use them as gifts or sell them off or use them to replenish her stamina during early farming years. In my SoS file, my character still eats with her hubby or at the restaurant even though her stamina is still full just so I couldn't see the green faced icon on her stamina bar. :P

Hahahahaaha no :D
I'm one of those folks where the only time my character sees food is if they're gifting someone else.
In all the games I played as a kid, I don't remember the stamina meter ever being a thing, and so food was never something I did. I always got angry at my AWL farmer for randomly making 'that stupid ugguuu~ sound' when I was trying to fish. It didn't even occur to me that maybe he was 'hungry'. I also just frequently didn't sleep. I almost never had the 'happy bubble dream'.
The only time I ate food in SoS (aside from getting the Raeger recipes) was the one day I tried taking off my 5 stamina per second restoration combo and still doing all of my farm chores in my cartridge version... that combo being off didn't even last the full day, heh. I had to eat like, 4 bouillabaisse and 1 onion salad Licorice gave me and it was way too much eating.
I am, however, going to have to resort to eating in 3oT probably. Since that's where all those nice buffs went... at least there's more stamina hearts.

I don't feed my farmer unless I really need to do more work.

Part of me believes that food getting 'food buffs' was because people didn't feed their poor in-game mc, and they really needed a super good reason to have people eat.

I ate a crapton of food in SoS, beyond the daily meal at Raeger's. I must be playing wrong to need to eat so much for stamina, I guess lol.

In the end of SoS, I didn't need to eat since I had the jewelry combo, but I liked eating with the family so I'd typically have at least a meal a day with them.

I also gave Klaus gifts nearly every day, often his favourite Bouillabaisse, even though he was at max affection (and I didn't do anything to lower it) just because I liked his reaction :)

Actually that's normal.

Some foods restore more than others. I just reduced my work load till I actually got the accessory combo I needed. After that it was bye bye food forever.

Q8: All the time, I always have food in the backpack. Stamina recovery even for the easy dishes makes me happy. Got a lot of crops to tend to.

Fun answers too. It's nice how everyone plays the game differently and the experience is different for everyone.

  • Question 3: How quickly do you aim to be 'the best' at festivals? And do you take part in festivals even though you might lose?
  • Question 4: Considering we could use blueprints / farm circles to make our farm look nice, how did you utilise this? Was the farm beautiful, completely functional or a mix of both?
  • Question 5: Are you gonna play Veteran or Seedling mode? - Ophelia11
  • Question 6: How do you decide your in game birthday? Is it closer to your real one, or do you pick a different one each time?
  • Question 7: How extravagant are you while gift giving? Do you even gift or just leave all up to contests? Will you change this for the new SoS: ToT?
  • Question 8: So, how many of you actually feed your farmer food?
(Feel free to use/add to this if more people want to answer in a batch.)
Question 9: Do you have preferences for what you grow and what animals you keep?

So we have a lot of choices, in crops especially. I love strawberries and melons, watermelons, pineapples, apples, bananas, mangos and grapes... and so my farm reflects that. I grow so many of the crops I like, and just prefer growing / cooking / shipping them. I love fruit trees (some of them) and I absolutely love strawberries. I grow them everywhere in spring, I have an entire greenhouse dedicated to them, and it's not gonna change in Trio. Plus even lychees were included, I'm so happy. I also like tea bushes, I think they look nice. I don't drink tea though.

On the other hand, I dislike Almond trees and peaches, cabbages and pumpkins and corn, the peppers (not in real life, but I just don't want to grow them in game), so they just usually don't get to grow much on my farms. Same with lemons and kiwis. I dunno.

On the animal side, I love rabbits, but sadly you can't get many of them. I also like chicks, but I don't like chickens as much. But chicks are cute, and in SoS they follow the mama chicken around, it's so adorable and cute and I probably shouldn't have hatched so many, but oh well.

I also like lambs. But I dislike cows. I'll always have one, and the bubble cow is cute, but don't like them all that much.

In pets I vastly prefer cats over dogs... up till now. Maybe trio will change that because they have all these different types of dogs.

Blademaster_Aio wrote:Question 9: Do you have preferences for what you grow and what animals you keep?
I try to grow all crops fairly evenly until I need to focus on a narrower range for various reasons, including Star Rank, Branding, Story Goals, and Frequently Used Ingredients. I still tend to grow 1 of everything each season, and at least 1 of every tree/bush. I dislike storms, so I will try and grow Summer and Winter crops in the Greenhouse areas instead of outdoors.

When it comes to animals, I prefer to keep the bare minimum, because they can easily steal away a large portion of my day and they often provide disproportionately tiny and/or obscure benefits. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the new Treats system changes Livestock for me in this game. I'm hoping it will be as nice as it seems from the outside.

Trees! Tea! Crops that regrow and don't require daily maintenance :D those are my favourite. I really dislike 'regular' crops that grow really fast and have to be constantly replanted. Unless I have a specific recipe I need to cook, (soybean salad..) I tend to stay away from non teas and trees, or I used the ferris wheels for any plants I wanted to grow on a regular basis that needed water normally. Crops like eggplant or sweet pepper that 'regrow' are okay enough in my book.
Animals make me really happy, so I like having a bunch of them... past the point where it's reasonable, in SoS I had two of everything except for the wooly ones. While I'd rather just have the rarer chickens & cows because their products are worth more (jerseys/buffalo, silkie/quail) I'll probably not want to sell my first animals anyway. I don't really like the bunnies much; I think they look silly... but I keep them anyway, since none of the wooly creatures are really forgo-able in the case of clothes.
Pet-wise, I like the capybara (which I pronoune as capy-bura, for some reason) and the GIANT FLUFF dogs. I don't have a list of all the pets rn (super tired, don't want to look for it) but there's a giant fluff white and brown one that I like.

I'm a completionist, so I grow and raise everything, and since I never play long enough to have unlocked everything, I've never gotten to a point where I was able to cut stuff out. It's no wonder I never feel like my days are long enough. I wish I could just do easier things like keep trees and only essential animals, but alas.

Pet-wise, I'm a dog person for sure.
