Really depends on the tutorial and what it makes you do from the start, but when left to my own devices I plant any seeds given and go exploring. I'll forage and stash items in the storage box, then talk to everyone available from the start. If the prices of crop seeds are cheap enough, I pick up a few (especially for the ones that regrow!).
In SoS, I actually prioritized tool upgrades instead of barns/coops, too. A first!

Usually first things I do are clear out the field and then forage and fish as much as possible for money. Talk to all the villagers and get to know them a bit. Once I have enough materials and money for a coop and get chickens is usually when things start to pick up after that. I'll have a few of the cheaper crops but I focus on animals most of the time

Feel free to keep answering question 1 if you want.
Question 2: How do you interact with your story of seasons / hm love interest?
Okay so... basically a lot of us do get married or pick someone. Some don't, of course, so feel free to say you don't if you don't. But how do you go about it? Now I know some of us just carry on with basic talk and gift and then business as usual with farm work, but I've done stuff like sell all my animals, and did nothing but go after a character till I got married. I don't normally do that on my first play through, but sometimes I'm like, everything is taking so long! And just cast farming aside for good, for a little while.
Then there is the whole 'don't save but bring down heart level to see lower heart lines of your lover / spouse', the break up things, and the getting back together stuffs.
Everything goes in the answer, things you do on 1st play throughs, 2nd ones or on extra save files, whatever.

For me the woo-ing my future spouse part takes priority... usually.Kross lover/fan wrote:Clear fields, plant oodles of seeds lol and chat up the towns folk.
I'll probably do that in game for a few days until I make a little money and then I'll start focusing on completing the story line/woo-ing my future husband

I equally spoke to everyone and participated in every festival but never gave gifts. All the boys (I played as a girl) but Hinata and Yuzuki were light green heart by winter year 1. The other two were dark blue. Then I take advantage of my second file to keep one with everyone ready for confession so I can take turns dating and marrying everyone. I didn't want to super focus on romance because I was working a lot on town rankings but did prioritize festivals due to the friendship boost.

I debated doing that, but I want to play as both genders.Mecha-Lollipop wrote:I equally spoke to everyone and participated in every festival but never gave gifts. I did that too. A lot.Shan O 123 wrote:This is my life. If someone is working/eating/etc, I literally wait for them so I can give them their daily gift.GemiMini wrote: As for my love interest... Stalk them relentlessly

I rarely get married in SoS games anymore, but for raising friendship I just finish my farm chores of the day and go talk to everyone in town before doing some foraging/fishing/mining and calling it a day. I don't give daily gifts to anyone, but DO give birthday gifts to everyone.Blademaster_Aio wrote:Spoiler:
I'm extremely methodical and have a set routine. Usually the morning is devoted to crops and animals. Once the work is done, time to get out on the town! I try to gift ALL marriage candidates daily, amd I try to talk to everyone at least once a day. Like someone else mentioned, I like to have a "master" wooing file where everyone is ready for confession so I can play through all the events at my leisure. This time around I may not worry about gifting so much except on birthdays, though.
Let it be known that trying to answer this made me riddle about trees for way too long.... I had to write all the tree info down to stop juggling it in my head e-eBlademaster_Aio wrote:Question 1: What are the first few things you will do when you finally have control of your farm?
Spoiler:
I'm really excited about the part time jobs as an income source, and getting money kind of slowly doesn't bother me too much (it'll be way different than my accrued 23 million gold in SoS ':D I just stopped bothering with flax eventually lol). I'll probably invest minimally in normal crops so not plant very many at the beginning ofc (just enough to fulfill requirements and cool) and a lot in animals. I'll probably want to not make very many investments and go more with free time things near the beginning so that time can legitimately go by faster and I can get everyone unlocked.

I love tree crops. Most of them. I don't like peaches and almonds.
I shall grow grapes and muscats and lychees. Yay, lychees!
I didn't use flax in sos... you like earn so much money eventually. All I was doing was trying to unlock tropical country and golden crops and making soil into pottery and suddenly I was rich.
Growing a tree orchard is great.
