Random questions till launch day for fun (about playstyles)
I prefer to only keep animals that don't follow me around. :/ I really hated the...was it llamas or alpacas, in SoS? I just find it so infuriating, like that old guy who tries to stand as close to you as possible even when there's loads of free space, and make contact at every opportunity on the bus or wherever, even though you don't want him aaaaanywhere near you. I've been heard to yell 'get away from me, pervert!' at my game, before, when my patience is pulled too thin on that matter. The association is just too strong and brings back too many memories of supressed rage, lol.
So whichever animals do that, I will see if I can either do without them completely, or get rid of them as early as possible after I've harvested enough goods from them. Or perhaps I can avoid raising their friendship or something.
I grow all crops but of course I'm extra interested in maple trees, as I am not only Canadian, but living on the edge of our primary sugar bush region where the majority of our syrup comes from.
And my sister won't let me tap our maples.
I'm also very interested in growing the new types of flowers...dahlias and mums and so on. Hibiscus was my favourite flower to grow in SoS.

Thanks ArcyArcy wrote:Here you go: http://fogu.com/hmforum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=169952Nurylon wrote:I don't have a list of all the pets
The Great Pyrenees & Tibetan Mastiff are my favourite dogs (so big!!!! so fluff!!!!), I'm extra excited for the red capybura, and I like lots of the cats... Maine Coon and Himalayan are big fluffs! the Scottish Fold looks precious and the Calico is a pure wonderful, calicos are goodness always, what a good friend. With the cat models though, I don't normally think they look very good in-game... at least in SoS anyway, and from the front view.
It was the brown and white alpaca that stalked around! The llama didn't stalk, luckily.
Animals I like having 2 of each, thought maybe this time I'll go with just one since from what I've read about treats they can produce a ton. I'll just get a ton of dogs insteadBlademaster_Aio wrote:Question 9: Do you have preferences for what you grow and what animals you keep?
For crops I will raise all of them, then keep planting those I use for recipes/gifts. I doubt money is hard to come by, so I won't go for the best profit crop or anything.
I thought I wouldn't care about pets, but...I think I may keep a half dozen. It seems like their abilities are really useful (the best way of getting thyme, poison mushrooms, etc) and I don't know how many pet abilities exist, so I might need a small handful of them.*LaI* wrote:I'll just get a ton of dogs instead

I really don't have any preference for what I grow. I usually plant a pair of each type of crops. I really love the variety. XD
As for animals, I usually keep a pair of each in order to have normal and premium products. But from what I read, one livestock could produce 20 items so I could keep one of each type instead.
As for pets, I really prefer cats over dogs.

I usually just have them for utility, so in SoS I keep the number I needed to herd all the animals. But in this game they are soooo cuteKikki wrote:I thought I wouldn't care about pets, but...I think I may keep a half dozen. I only kept 2 pets in SoS since they weren't very useful, one cat and one dog, but in Trio they have a lot more new abilities...not just herding and foraging, but also treasure hunting and I think specifically finding fish and I don't yet know how many types of abilities they can have, so I'm not sure how many I'll need, yet.
I deifnitely need a herding pet and a foraging pet and a treasure hunting pet, anyway, I'm pretty sure.
EDIT: I've asked talesofthreetowns and she is my hero yet again
In answer to 'do you know how many types of pet abilities there are?' she answered...

EDIT 2: One more ability...foraging materials. (Like lumber and black lumber). So...perhaps six pets?
EDIT: I've asked talesofthreetowns and she is my hero yet again
So I may very well keep five pets just to have one of each ability.talesofthreetowns wrote:Let's see if I remember: livestock herding, foraging fish, foraging metals, foraging herbs, foraging diverse items (ex. Poison mushroom) I think those are all available skills. All pet can do treasure hunting regardless their personal skill

Question 9: Dogs are my favorite. So hopefully I'll be able to get a bunch that can herd. I do plan on giving livestock a try this game. Keep hearing the developers streamlined animal care, so here's hoping I'll enjoy it more.
@stalker animals, I found it annoying in game. However, horses will stalk people they like in real life. Then they bring all their horse buddies with them.
It's a bit of realism at least...

I never knew that. That's so interesting to me. And that they bring all their friends is sort of scary. What if they decided to start bullying you?Lenna36 wrote:@stalker animals, I found it annoying in game. However, horses will stalk people they like in real life. Nah, they're not bullies.ryume wrote:I never knew that. That's so interesting to me. And that they bring all their friends is sort of scary. Edit: I'm surprised that the sheep don't stalk in game. They would be another one. At least I would think so.

I'll start out just planting everything I can, but eventually focus more on the crops that are more profitable/ are used in the recipes I want. With livestock, I'll always end up with the most sheep but there'll be one of each at least (unlike two of each in ANB and SoS, since we'll be able to get normal and plus quality stuff from one). Looking over the pets, I'm probably going to get a Maine Coon, Bernese, German Shepard, Husky, Chihuahua, and a grey Capybara because those are the breeds closest to the irl pets I always use for names (the capybara in place of my chinchilla
). This is probably the first game since AP that I have more than two pets
