Blademaster_Aio wrote:Question 10: Which non-farming activity takes up most of your time? Which do you like most, and which ones do you not like?
/thinks of how my days pre-growing-EVERYTHING normally go:
-spends a couple of hours taking care of crops and foraging
-wastes like 50 billion hours doing ?????? running around town, talking to folks, going into the plaza even though I don't need to buy anything, makes spreadsheets while forgetting to pause the day sometimes
-takes care of animals at the end of the day.

So, socializing, I guess. It's going to make playing through the beginning of the game hard because I want to try and have my days as short as possible until I have all the characters & towns unlocked... so that way I don't spend the first 70~ in-game hours with no Inari. It would happen if I didn't purposefully avoid it and I'd feel very dumb ':D It's a little frustrating how un-efficiently I tend to spend my time outside of my almost strictly-scheduled crop/animal care timeframes, actually... but at least I'm having tons of fun. Part-time jobs and Dessie critter collecting will probably weasel its way into my schedule.

It's not something I do very often but because it's been mentioned a couple times, I can spend really long time just lying down comfy on the couch and fishing. Not sure what the appeal is to me, but I've always loved video-game fishing. I don't even sell what I get half the time lol.

Probably gifting and talking to (most)everyone. I'm reeeeally hoping this time through I will NOT try to optimize every thing and thus make it past Spring 2 for once D:

For that matter I'm strongly considering seedling mode for the first time.

Same!!! I make spreadsheets for all the games I love I can't help it. I sometimes wonder if I spend more time making spreadsheets and planning that I actually do playing the game T_T

I also love fishing too! Fishing buddies <3

This might be early for a new question but since I'm curious and people can answer previous stuff anyways
Question 11: Which personality trait do you think you will pick, and why?

On one hand I want to pick a personality that suits me (angler). On the other hand It makes sense to pick a trait that will make up for your deficiencies? Like picking angler if you don't like fishing...

I'm probably going to try and balance this out by going for millionaire.

I am gonna be rich. Because everything else I can make up with effort, but money gives me such a huge headstart.

None of the personal traits suit me in real life, so might as well pick for purely gameplay reasons.

Q.11
I really haven't decided yet. I need to decide on things... I have the habit of not starting right away because I haven't decided on a name, farm name and what personality to go for. I'm deciding whether to go for Millionaire or Angler or Sportsman... Probably go with Sportsman I guess so that I could plant more at the start.

Character creation is serious business! I completely understand. That's also why I've been using the time waiting for release to try and decide these things so I can cut down time taken staring at the Character Menu

I wouldn't be surprised if I spent equal time in my spreadsheets as in my games /hides face/ But if I don't make them I feel like... well, I'll lose track of what I was doing! Especially if I stop playing for a while, though at that point I tend to scrap at least some of my old project and make even more spreadsheet anyway heheh.
HlaineL wrote:Question 11: Which personality trait do you think you will pick, and why?
During the thread on personality trait a while ago, I thought that I would pick Rich (Tycoon in the English version, I think?), and my runner up was Sports Enthusiast. The only reason I wasn't going with the latter immediately was because I plan on playing seedling mode and that gives me double stamina already. But I've been double thinking it a lot...
Now that I've seen a bit more I think it would be fun to start out with a 'normal' amount of cash, especially since the Part Time Jobs look so good, and I won't be buying a lot at the beginning anyway. I'd prefer to buy the minimum to get my town ranks up and then splurge on what I *really* want once those goods start unlocking, and by that time the money benefit would probably not matter anymore. Plus, seedling discounts are a thing, too.

I do absolutely loathe having limited stamina, though. And I want to start immediately with a lot of hoeing, and clearing, and high stamina tasks and maintenance. So I'm starting to think Sports Enthusiast wouldn't be a bad choice... plus some of bonus hearts are pretty late in the game! so it would last a while. Especially since Marriage is one, and in SoS I didn't marry until Year 4. I tend to be late on that ball, and definitely want to wait until at minimum DLC to marry because I'm interested in Inari.

For the other ones, Popularity doesn't interest me too much because if I end up sleeping through a lot of days for any reason (and I'm sure I'll find reason) I'll lose all its bonus anyway. Animal Lover is objectively a great one, but it just doesn't interest me that much :/ & Angler, well I like fishing already, I would lose the benefit of that too fast! I agree about the trait being better for folks that don't like fishing. (It also strikes me as a funny place to put a trait, since it's just one activity vs. overarching like the other traits).

Probably foraging and running around talking to people. Also I'm a big completionist so I'll spend a lot of time fishing and collecting everything the game has a list

And if we are counting outside too, making spreadsheets/maps/notes :) I also think I spend as much time doing that as I do playing games.
HlaineL wrote:Question 11: Which personality trait do you think you will pick, and why?
I'm still thinking over this one. I'll probably go with sportman. I think 1 extra heart will help in the beginning. Popular would help more ofc, but for me doesn't feel right being invited to lunch just for having said hi :P Want to work on that myself.

Millionaire for me. I love animals and in my playthroughs I always have a focus on them with my farms so I want that huge starting bonus to get some immediately.

Q 11: I was torn between animal lover and tycoon, but I would have only wanted the animal lover to have a better shot at the earlier animal festivals. But after thinking about it, I decided that I'd rather have a bit more money to start with, so I can get more animals etc. early on.

I want animals immediately, so Tycoon. The starting farm comes with a small coop and barn, so you're able to get animals without waiting for a certain bae(dus) to show up.

If you're just joining us, here are all the questions so far:
Spoiler:
Blademaster_Aio wrote:
  • Question 1: What are the first few things you will do when you finally have control of your farm?
  • Question 2: How do you interact with your story of seasons / hm love interest?
  • Question 3: How quickly do you aim to be 'the best' at festivals? And do you take part in festivals even though you might lose?
  • Question 4: Considering we could use blueprints / farm circles to make our farm look nice, how did you utilise this? Was the farm beautiful, completely functional or a mix of both?
  • Question 5: Are you gonna play Veteran or Seedling mode? - Ophelia11
  • Question 6: How do you decide your in game birthday? Is it closer to your real one, or do you pick a different one each time?
  • Question 7: How extravagant are you while gift giving? Do you even gift or just leave all up to contests? Will you change this for the new SoS: ToT?
  • Question 8: So, how many of you actually feed your farmer food?
  • Question 9: Do you have preferences for what you grow and what animals you keep?
  • Question 10: Which non-farming activity takes up most of your time? Which do you like most, and which ones do you not like? (Yes I stole this question from XSEED Q&A because it was there)
  • Question 11: Which personality trait do you think you will pick, and why? - HlaineL

Question #9

I like to grow everything since I am a completionist. I am partial to crops that regrow, like tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, etc. I feel like you get more bang for your buck. As far as animals go, I prefer the bunnies and sheep. I do keep one of everything though, especially for clothes and what not. In SoS, pets didn't do much, so I am super happy that they are more useful in 3oT. I'm gonna get like 6 pets cause they are all so freaking adorable.

Question #10

In the older games I loved mining. My first game was AP, and the mining was pretty extensive. The only part I didn't like about it was having to refine the wonderful, so it was easy to get glass.

Question 10 - This probably doesn't really count but I love socializing. Reading dialogue is almost always my favourite part of games. Other than that, I like making clothes, although the requirements are REALLY ridiculous sometimes.

Question 11 - Charmer! Honestly when I thought about it, I don't really care that much about black flower lines, but I do like getting free food earlier.

Question 11: I can't decide between animal relatinoship boost or getting money. Popular was tempting, but I decided I was fine with putting in the hard work for FP from scratch. I will probably go with money because in the early stages, I never seem to have enough.

Increased stamina is also tempting as well, but I still feel like having more income may trump that.

I'm still not sure what I'll be going with for the personality; it's a toss up between animal lover, sportsman, and angler. The former because I just like the idea of animals loving my MC on sight, sporty cause I'm planning on Veteran mode & waiting a long time to get married, and the last to make fishing easier so I might actually do it more. All I know for sure is that I'm not starting a male file til I've got the miracle trait unlocked

Question #11

I am leaning towards Animal Lover as my personality trait, but Tycoon is tempting. More money in the beginning is always a good thing. I'll have to look up how much extra money Tycoon gives you and decide if it is worth more than getting a small boost to animal friendship in the beginning.
