Q11: Money! (Tycoon/Wealthy trait) I like to hoard a lot of things at the start, so the extra cash will help me out the most considering that the friendship boosters are only one heart and the seedling mode offers more stamina already. I'll buy a lot of treats to get a boost on animal productivity and get some nice crops going to start churning up a steady profit as soon as I can.
Wha? Your Uncle only gives you 2,000 starting cash, if you start with Tycoon then you start with 52,000 instead. It is clearly shown in the Lin & Ko video. Unless they changed it in the NA version, but I haven't heard anything about that.Kikki wrote:Tycoon means you start with 50,000 instead of 4,000

I might be weird, but I kind of like the start-up scrounging for money thing. I like the very start where selling bugs (well, not in Trio, but in SoS) and foraged items could get you just enough to buy the seeds you wanted and stuff, lol. Like...okay, how can I squeeeeeze another 1000G out of my surroundings?
I'll probably choose popular to give me those 5,000 FP with EVERYONE, even minor characters I might forget about otherwise because my MCs schedule doesn't mesh with theirs or etc.
Otherwise I would probably go with animal-lover. Not because I AM one, but because I'm told it's quite slow to raise pet affection and I'd like to speed that up. Plus every animal you EVER buy in the game, even years into it, would then receive that bonus heart of friendship, so it's like the one personality trait that never loses it's usefulness. Well, from my way of looking at it, anyway.

That is the original reason why I was drawn to the Animal Lover trait. It is always useful, no matter what point you are at in the game.Kikki wrote:I might be weird, but I kind of like the start-up scrounging for money thing. Yeah. And since it's always been easier for me to raise villager affection than animal affection, I'm still waffling, and might go for that. Plus I don't necessarily want to speed up my progress through the game, which the 'popularity' trait does, to my way of thinking...you'll get to see events IMMEDIATELY if you choose it, and it might be better for the longevity of my interest for me to not speed that sort of thing up. And since I'm going to choose Seedling, I probably don't need to rush to get to be able to have meals with the candidates...I'll have double the stamina of 'regular' as it is.AllisAurora wrote:That is the original reason why I was drawn to the Animal Lover trait. This is part of my reasoning as well. I've also opted not to go for charmer because I like the feeling of being new to town and thus having no close relationship with anybody (not that 5000 FP is close, but yeah).Kikki wrote:I might be weird, but I kind of like the start-up scrounging for money thing. I'm probably gonna go for animal lover. I'd already decided that because it's definitely true of me in real life, but the benefits it comes with are probably the best for my play style.
I'm really tempted by 'charmer' as I'd love to jump right into seeing some events and getting to eat meals with folks, but...that'll give me a little extra fun at the start, I think, working toward reaching that level on my own power. I should be able to do it fairly easily in one game season, I think (with any villagers available at that point, that is.)
Honestly my own gameplay style needs some tweaking. I get things accomplished too quickly and then goals that take longer no matter what...things that take an exact amount of time (like having a child) or are locked to a certain date or etc...if I've finished everything up before I get there, I get bored and stop playing.
So probably 'charmer' is not the best for me. I shouldn't make it even easier for myself in the social aspects of the game, I think. Pretty sure I should actually make easier the thing that is most tedious for me...raising animal friendship.
(But I WANT to go with charmer, lol.)

I like that part myself which is why the tycoon isn't even an option for me. I think it will be popular as I just have trouble gifting villagers I'm not overly fond of (Margot) .Kikki wrote:I might be weird, but I kind of like the start-up scrounging for money thing. Quick question (sorry if it's been asked before), but does anyone know if the quick access menu is still in for gifting like SoS?
