Any other fans of that game?

It never had Mario characters in it, just you and your Doubles Team Partner, both of which you were able to name. I remember playing that on my Gameboy until my thumbs were numb. I got so excited when it became available on the 3DS as virtual console. Needless to say I bought it right away, and the nostalgia is there. I remember the music, the characters, I remember getting to the doubles finals as a kid, and playing against the top ranked. Don't think I won, but dunno.. I used to be really good at it. Now I'm needing to get back into how to control my character, applying the stats when my character and doubles partner level up, not being all over the map but in a place where it's best for controlling my character's reaction time.

Does anyone else play it, or had played it in the past? And was it fun for you?

I loved Mario Tennis and Mario Golf on the GBA, as it made the game into an RPG with your own character getting better with better equipment, skills, unlocking new tournaments, etc. I tried the 3DS version of Mario Golf and was sorely disappointed as it was just too goofy and it wasn't at all like an RPG.

I had forgotten you can download some of these older games though. I'll have to check that out.

I know, right?! I loved that it wasn't Mario characters, as well. You were able to have your own. (If you haven't bought it already, it's in the 3DS e-shop. Mario Tennis for the GB. And Mario Tennis for GBA is on the Wii-U e-shop. ^^)

I found this one for the GBC, but it uses the Mario characters. Can't find any GBA games for the 3DS in my region.

As I recall, if we're talking about the GBC Mario Tennis, the story mode focuses on the character (boy or girl) and their roommate at tennis school. There are Mario characters in the mini-games outside of story mode and
Spoiler:
after you win the singles and doubles tournaments!
I loved playing that game, but I had to restart a couple of times before I figured out how to really win the matches and the game as a whole. Tip: Use those iron shoes as much as you can. :)
Edit: Oops! Sorry I didn't notice how old this was. (face-palm) :(
