I am having trouble making more space for farming. I know in the other SoS you could just use the hoe to make more plots, but it doesn't seem to be working for me?

You need to use Farm Circle to add more fields

You have to wait for the day after Lulukoko and Ludus unlock, when he comes to teach you about farm circles. It's more like ANB's way of making plots than SOS. He'll come to your farm on Spring 16.

Ah, thanks!! The fogu site is currently lacking this information, so I'm glad someone answered this question. I kept seeing "farm circles" mentioned everywhere and was kind of confused.

...I still am, but hopefully I'll understand it when they explain it.

From what I understand, farm circles are just objects you can build and place on your farm. They have different effects and influence the other objects placed around them. Stuff like barns, coops, and fields count too.
