Ushi No Tane Forum

Hi all - Perhaps I just haven't played enough yet (only Spring 6th so far) but I am not finding ANY random forageables after the ones I picked up the very first day (Spring 3rd). I wouldn't be overly worried except we need all that wood for upgrading the house and building a second barn (for cow 2 for the Farm Advice quest). So far I have found ONE (1) branch and ZERO twigs so I'm kinda alarmed. Comparatively I've found like 5 mint, 8 moondrop, and 1 blue magic, as well as one rock and one pebble. (yep worried a bit about stone too, but wood is priority atm)

I do get that the forageables in set locations (like pink lupine, cactus etc) grow on a specific cycle. That's fine. But the randoms... I guess I'm used to the previous SoS and ANB games where there was new random forageable stuff on the ground every single day. At this point I am super-glad I took Tycoon for the starter trait because I have no idea how I'd be making any money (outside of the dribs and drabs from part-time jobs) otherwise since I can't get enough of anything to keep first before I sell extras. ._. (like, I want to get a stock of 10 mint before I start selling mint, and so on).

So I guess what I am asking is, how often do the random (not set location) forageables respawn? Should I expect there to always be like 3-4 "dead" days with absolutely nothing to pick up between every forage run, or am I just having horrible luck?

I've found my lumber and pebbles on either my farm or Uncle Frank's farm. It took a good 10 days to respawn if not more.

I think the one branch I found was near Frank's farm as well, yes. Well at least I know to look especially closely in those areas.

Yikes though... 1 branch per ~10 days is NOT going to cut it anywhere close. This feels like an insanely low spawn rate... what were they thinking. >_< I'd chop the trees on my farm, except taking care of my crops each day already sends me to bed at near-fainting levels (I'm on veteran). I can dig into the food reserves for that, but once those trees are gone... ugh. Hopefully I'll have better luck the next spawn-round...

so far for me it seems like each town re-spawns stuff every 3 days or so, making it so you can forage one town per day and cycle through. could be totally wrong on that as I'm playing seedling the first time through.

Fishing for twigs/branches has been more reliable than foraging for me.

Can you bust up the stump on Uncle Frank's farm? Or is that like trying to harvest/steal his radishes?

You can eventually buy lumber and small lumber. Same for small stone and stone. Unsure about black stone and black lumber.

Right, but I'm a cheapo and prefer to forage/chop as much as possible myself lol. And at the moment I have neither the lumber store nor the fishing rod (though I hope to get the fishing rod soon! Excited!)

I read in another thread here though that chopping trees is cumulative across days so I'm gonna work on that! *nod* One chop here, one chop there, here a chop there a chop everywhere a chop-chop... after 10 days or so it should fall xDD and 5 more days chopping the stump & branches lol. (blind estimate heh)

Pfft that made me laugh. xD But if I was gonna guess, I bet we can't chop it 'cause it's landscaping or something. I'll probably try at some point though! ;D Will let you know if this thread is still around.

Not just landscaping, actually! It's used for the 'woodchopping' part time job, which has a base pay of 150g (as opposed to 100g for weeding, watering, harvesting, and cow-brushing). So if you did manage to chop it up for lumber, you'd probably be sorry.

But yeah, foraged twigs & branches are not going to get you very far. You'll need to chop some trees down. The round (broadleaf, I think) trees give small lumber, the tall skinny trees give lumber (and take more chopping).
