So lately in my harvest moon / story of seasons playthroughs, I've struggled with choosing a partner. I would want to see all of their events and then I STILL couldn't decide sometimes. So for those people who have the same problem, I thought of a method I plan on using rather than deciding on a whim at the final moment.

It's silly, but maybe it will help someone, haha. Whenever one of the characters makes me smile, or I think something they say or do at that moment is really cute, I will mark a "+1" by their name in a document. When it comes time to date or marry (if you're the type to break up in order to see all of their events before marriage) I will just have to pick the character with the most tallied points.

I've picked on a last minute whim before, and I usually end up regretting it. So I'm hoping that this will help me and maybe someone else.

What are your methods for choosing the right partner once you reach that point in game?

In past games I would get the candidates to full hearts and then date them on a separate file so that I could see all of their events, but it seems like this game isn't allowing that (Dating unlocks the last 5 hearts, so you cannot work on friendzoned wooing, like you could in SoS or any of the previous titles).

I think that I will still get the bachelors to 5 hearts and see all the events I can before choosing, because I'm a sucker for romance, hehe. Ford turned me off at first because of his aloof attitude, but he's growing on me. I'm pretty scientific and socially dense myself, so I can identify with his character. Wayne is quite flirtatious, but he's still rather kind. Ludus is... exotic and cute. Haven't seen too much of his character yet. I haven't met the other candidates yet, but I'm sure they're just as interesting. Maybe with NG+ I can see all the events?

This one's going to be a doozy - so many characters and so much dialogue! It's intense. I like the idea of keeping tallies, though.

Hmmm....At first I like Komari but then after all introduction...Illuka look good although she is a sharp tongue girl but I know she is kind in heart and Siluka, the younger twin who has the heart of goddess and not to forget Lisette the sweet flower...arghhh I have hard time choosing my girl!! So I come out with my plan to see all their friend and love event (to the max I can but not dating) then make reverse confession and reject!! but by then I must already choose my bride coz she will be the only one who I will make the first move instead lol~

I know one thing, be careful with the going-steady Pendent. I heard it's really easy to get someone to confess to you. You might get the wrong person if you're not careful.

does this mean that gift giving is not needed for a reverse confession? i only give gifts on birthdays so affection raises at a slower rate, yet i still would like a reversed confession/proposal lol.

I seem to be neutral towards all bachelor(ette)s often, so I'm having a hard time choosing most of the time. I can't recall how often I've restarted rf4 because I wanted Frey to marry somebody else.

I never played one of these games in such a way, because I don´t want to have this amount of work.
There is enough to do in the game, so I just play it and look, who fits the most.

I never regret this style of play, because it feels more like real life and, in case I really want to marry someone else, I start a new file.

Thanks to the new system, you can now start a miracle file and get all of the benefits with you, so it should be easier to start a new file.

I couldn't make Frey marry anyone - just haremed all the bachelor's I could lol.
