This is bugging me

How do we catch bugs? I mean, I think I somehow managed to catch a cricket or something by chance early on, but... other than that, no luck. I figured it'd be like in the last two games - you walk up to them and press A, MAYBE jump first. Nope - they fly away or otherwise vanish.
Then I tried the GrB/ToTT approach, walking up to them carefully and pressing A, or walking up to them carefully, jumping, and pressing A.
Nope.
...I mean, I'm only on spring 4 so far, so maybe it's something we unlock in this game before we can do it, but - still. Bugs. I want bugs.

Boo, that sucks. I loved catching bugs in the previous games, especially ANB and SoS. Nice little bit of extra money, quick and easy gifts, and it was fun to do to kill time. Oh, well. Thanks for the answer.Starrynight28 wrote:You can't "catch" them...at least not like in SoS. You can only "find" them, after which they disappear. Sorry

Still worth it to "catch" the bugs for the first year, since ever 100 bugs you "catch", you get a random reward from Dessie.Anonymous Fish wrote:Boo, that sucks. That being said, I misread that at first as "you get a condom from Dessie" and did a double-take. Like, "Jeez, girl, Yuzuki hasn't even moved in yet, calm down and go back to your spring."
Dessie and Frank are the biggest shippers in this game so far.Anonymous Fish wrote:Really... didn't know that. I like how 3oT handles bugs. Pretty sure I made more money selling Dessie's gifts than I ever did selling the bugs in SOS.

Yeah but I don't think looking at the same one multiple times the same day counts to the #?Lenna36 wrote:It's not like we have a BugDex to fill out this time.ChaosAzerothCat wrote:It just bugs me you can't tell easily which you already saw and which you didn't.![]()
Vanish dangit and come back when I didn't just look at you!We just have to look at them.
I keep seeing groups of 3+ in one area and I feel like I'm wasting my time trying to see them sometimes.

Just give me a few days to test this out. I have a stitch counter, so I'll be able to tally them in between gifts easily. Though I'm pretty sure they count, but would feel better to know for sure.PTDuckie wrote:From what I've gather, you can see multiples of same as long as it totals to 100. Not sure it correct or not but I've been Dessie quite a bit so far.

I haven't counted but I'm pretty sure seeing the same one counts in general, but IDK about multiple views in the same day of the same bug. That seems like it'd not be a thing. With multiple bugs in one area, especially like dragon flies where there's 2-3 same color and they move a lot, it's almost stressful dealing with them.

Oh, gosh, thank you! I was wondering what the point of catching these bugs was. Finally went to check my bag for them and I was very confused.LightHawKnight wrote:Still worth it to "catch" the bugs for the first year, since ever 100 bugs you "catch", you get a random reward from Dessie.Anonymous Fish wrote:Boo, that sucks.
