so... which do you guys pick?
Because like... small barns aren't really as resource effective (or time effective, since loading in and out) but they're more space effective then larger ones. (4 small barns takes up 8 squares, and 1 large barn takes up 9. )

i'm pretty torn myself. I tend to keep 2 of each animal, so i kinda wanna go with large barns but... hrm.

I'm probably going to stick primarily to large barns mostly because it's just easier and less of a pain, though I may decide to sort my animal types by barn, but I focus mostly on animals anyways so I'll probably still have large barns regardless of if I do that or not

Haven't decided yet but likely large barns. The small are just... so small. I think I prefer to run in to one building and take care of as many animals as possible, rather than have to go into a bunch of smaller ones.

So far I only have large barns. They do take more room but I'd rather have all my animals in one place than have to run in and out of lots of little barns.

When the sheep and alpaca came available I built a large barn. I like the convenience of having them all in one barn and the large grazing area. In my mind, were I a cow, sheep or alpaca, I'd prefer the larger space to roam. But it's a 3x3 and right now, it's huuuuuuge. Not that I have a lot to plant... but still. I am a big fan of orchards - that's my way of winning all the crop festivals.

I may change my mind later, but so far, I've got one large barn and my chicken has her own private coop.

I have four large barns. One for eggs, one for milk, and two for different kinds of wool. While they take more space, it makes easier to deal with all my animals, specially on rainy days, when they are all inside, and since I decided to use the south farm area (the only area where I can put four large barns) just for animals and makers, and grow crops and other stuff like fish/pearl on the other two (trees are in the underground rooms, where I'm also growing crops non-stop), I don't care much about the extra space taken.

Awright. i think for the sake of simplicity i'll go with a few big barns. It'll be easier in the long run. (plus i imagine a bunch of small barns/coops would fudge with the pet herding AI or something)

Large barns may not be space-efficient, but unlike four small barns one large barn allows for animal breeding. I'm sure some kind of something passes down from mother to child.

I feel like the only person who likes small barns, lmao. In my eyes, I find it so convenient knowing each animal has a specific set barn/coop. Also, someone on the fourm (I forgot who) did the math proving that having a large barn takes up more space compared to 4 small barns. Something like "4 small barns + a pet house, is equivalent to the size of a 3x3 big barn/coop." So for now, I'll stick to small barns, even if they'll cost me more materials in the end.

Personalities can be passed down and the babies already start out with, I think, half the number of hearts their parent does.

I just got a large barn but even though it takes up a lot of space, it's more aesthetically pleasing to me.
