I searched the forum and couldn't find a prior topic about this and google also couldn't help me.

What effects do hurricanes/typhoons have in this game?

It lowers all parameters a crop has, but you only need one fertilizer (per parameter) to bring it back to how it was. Also, it cancels any event that might happen that day, since villagers do not leave their houses (in my case, it canceled my birthday party :( ). And, as usual, taking animals outside will stress them a lot. And I think stamina consumption is also higher that day.

ah okay, thanks :)

it apparently also increases the stamina use when you use tools (as I just noticed while playing)

Is there a cap in the number of storms per season? I'm on Summer 17, year 1, and it's already my second. Makes raising my crops' stats a wee bit of a pain...

EDIT: Nevermind, found the answer to my own question. I'll repost it here for those interested:
Spoiler:
Here’s an interesting tidbit: There will always be a at least one typhoon/snowstorm each summer/winter. There can be up to four, but no more than that.

If you get to the 24th of the month without seeing a typhoon/snowstorm, then a storm will ALWAYS occur on the 28th, so you can prepare accordingly. Typhoons/snowstorms CANNOT occur until after the 9th of the season, which means they’ll never occur in the first week. Typhoons are more likely to occur than snowstorms. There’s a pretty good chance that the only snowstorm you’ll see each year will be on Winter 28.

That's odd because I'm fairly sure I never got a storm during the summer? I'm in fall now but not once did a storm pop up throughout the season. Maybe it was overridden by the events that went on? The last few days of summer were just cutscene after cutscene since I was unlocking a whole bunch of stuff plus visits from Marlena and Lynn.

Hurricanes also throw random boulders around your farm. I got so ticked off because it threw a black boulder right where I wanted to put my large coop. Took me two days to break thing thing up XD

haha, yeah that happened to me as well. After clearing it away I put empty fields on the space I wanted to put my next barn so no trees/boulders would appear there

Summer of year 1 is full of events, specially if you finish the first set of farming tips, so it might be that the storm was scheduled for a day when such an event triggered, cancelling it. What I'm not sure of, is whether the effects of the storm in the parameters of your crops still happen even if you don't get a stormy day in that case.

I guess all of you are super lucky then, because yeah, already got 2 and summer is far from over :\

But it did get me extra boulders, including black boulders.

Time to upgrade my hammer lol

And interesting theory about the storm event being cancelled, but the effects maybe remaining. Anyone notice 4 % reductions to all crop parameters? (I now understand why the contests only focus on two...)

According to my guide book, storms can start to happen from summer 9 on. Well, in my first year I got a hurricane in summer 9, and I think I got another one later in the month.
