Can you move trees?

Probably an obvious question, but can you essentially pick up and move plots of land that are growing trees? One of the biggest reasons I never grew trees in past games was because I knew I would regret where they would be planted, especially in SOS. Apparently growing grapes and coconuts are super important too?
Thanks!

Yes, you can move fruit trees just like any other crop plot. Not the lumber trees, though.

Thank « Harvest Goddess » and hallelujah. This saves me so much stress on tree placement if I want to build an orchard.

What do we need grapes and coconuts for? I never grown trees and I don't want to start now! D:

That's great news! Now I won't feel so bad about my farm layout if I slap down some tree sprouts with my other crops.

You'll need 50 grapes to get Westown to a S rank town link. Grape wine is also needed for Tsuyukusa's S town link.
Not sure about coconuts.

15 coconuts are required to make the wine maker, which is necessary to complete a few town rank quests.
You can get coconuts without growing them during the fruit festival, but it would likely take several years' worth of festivals to get 15 of them.

Ah this is wonderful news! I always plant an orchard and then regret where I made it or how I laid it out on my farm, so I'm very happy to hear this <3

Well « Puppy Doodoo ». Guess I better actually work on setting up some trees on the 2nd field then. I always avoid them because of how long they take to grow and how little they produce compared to other things.

Why? You don't have to water them, so you can just plant and forget. The only thing you need to do, that is if you care about star levels is fertilize, and once it hits the max, you can ignore them and just harvest whenever the fruits are there.

Because they only produce for 1 season and spend the rest of the year sitting there being useless and taking up space I could use for something that actually earns money.

Your farm having so much space, and the fact you can move trees, means you can shove them into the farthest edge of the lower map once you unlock it, so they aren't using up the space you'd need for things that have to be checked on regularly like normal crops and animals.

/mournful groans/ A'ight, thanks Fin.
I've seen screenshots of a bunch of trees growing in there before on a few help blogs (and recommendations to grow non-watering crops there, because it doesn't get rain)... I guess they have to be planted from scratch though.
