Is there an easier way to get the cloth and materials for the clothes other than getting the textile mill? I saw that some people got their clothes right after upgrading their house on Spring 16 and I can't see how you managed to get all the materials for the cloth that way. Am i missing something?
I'm pretty sure they are getting the 5 white cloths from the general store in Weston. And making the simple clothing outfits that only require white cloth.

You can buy cloth in the stall to the left of the one where you buy animal products, although it's pricey. You also get 5 White Cloth for free at some point after getting the 3rd village unlocked from the tailor there, but that takes a while longer.

However, this is limited to normal cloth made from normal sheep wool. For the rest you need to use the maker. If you throw gifts into Dessie's pond, she will give you some cloth several times after a number of offerings has been reached, but this will take even longer, and what you get is far from enough.
I've got a bit of a collection of colored cloth from multiplayer, but I've only been able to buy the basic patterns that use the white cloth that you can get in Westown. I hated that dress my character started out with.
