Question about Town Link Locks

So the rank B for lulukoko (according to fogu) requires 'Harvest at least 50 flowers that are native to Lulukoko." and "Harvest at least 50 tree fruit that are native to Lulukoko."

my question is this going to count what i've been doing from the start? or is it gonna add a counter that ticks up once i get the mission? I wanna know if it's worth even worrying about in year 1 or not.

I think it starts up a new counter, since it started a new counter for other things to do for other town locks. I could be wrong, but that's my 'educated' guess from other town experiences so far.

Gah, if so that's a huge bummer.... i guess i can't do it till the start of year two then (only got like 5 days left in summer and am nearing halfway point on the c rank lock).

ah well :/ I guess there are several other issues holding me back anywho (I need to unlock the pepper seeds and seeing as i have no tsukuyasa fruit i gotta grow a bunch of wasabi..)

does anyone at least know how to unlock the other flower?

If everything you did before the lock counted, most of the requirements for the locks would be pointless... Though still wish they counted.

I got that lock while in summer but I ended one harvest short of getting the 50 fruits, so I had to wait until I unlocked the underground rooms and my trees grew (it was a bit faster than waiting for summer to come again). I also learnt that I needed coconuts to build a maker needed to clear some other lock when it was too late to plant a tree and get fruit that year, so it took me ages too to finish that one.

I've been keeping all of my crops and not selling anything not demanded by a task requirement. Which is why my money is still so low, I think. But at least it means I always have what I need to ship, so I don't get stuck for a year on anything, which would drive me bonkers. I also made sure to get coconut from the Fruit Fiesta and will be making them into trees right away. Thank goodness for the internet, or I'd never have known. This would be one horribly frustrating game if there were no internet resources to check on.

I haven't reached the Fruit Fiesta in my game yet, but thank you so very, very much for the pro tip there, Kikki

You're welcome! :) It's pretty easy...just make sure you save before starting to hand out the fruit to Lulukoko residents. I only had to reload once and on the second try I ended up getting two. (Thanks Caolila, Iluka!)
