So I'm a bit unclear. According to the guide I think the animal never produce 100% + produce right?

I am trying to decide if I need to hoard regular quality wool for clothes and what not later in the game or if I'll still be able to get them without having to buy new animals.

If you give them enough feed/treats they will produce only + products. In makers and cooking you can substitute normal products by their + version, but not the other way around. In quests and when buying clothes, if they ask for a normal version you need to give them that version, you can't substitute it by the + one.

If you are not sure you want your animals to give only + products, you can stop increasing the corresponding parameter in the second to last level, where you will get (in average) half normal, half + products.

In this game that's not a issue since you can control it with the treats.

Interesting! Very helpful, thank you!

So if something calls for normal quality animal product, I can use the Plus version for that as a substitute?
But if something calls for the plus version of that product, I cannot use the normal version for substitution, correct?

When cooking or using the makers, yes. And yes, you can never substitute a plus product by one of less quality.

That is annoying. I wonder why you can't give the + for quests/clothes....

How much affect does the parameter have in animal festivals? Does it make it harder to win higher ranked contests if the parameter is at the second highest level?

Not really. I have won the higher rank contest with my cow having that parameter to the second to last level and everything else maxed.

Thanks for letting me know.
