Byproduct level?

Sooo I'm wondering how you increase the byproduct level on your animals? Not the star quality ranking, but the one that starts out as level 'E' ? It's right next to the level for their coat too.

The only thing I've seen labeled in game as affecting it are a type of treat, which I have been giving to all of my animals every day for over a season now, but it's still at E level for everybody. If anyone knows exactly what I'm supposed to be doing, I'd appreciate it if they could help me out a bit. I don't know if I'm missing some steps or if it just takes a long time.

And also, byproduct level is what effects whether its '+' quality or not, yeah?

Sorry if the answer is obvious and I'm just missing something. I appreciate the help!

It takes a bit more than one month for the E to become D. Each treat gives +10 points to a hidden counter (+15 if your animal has the right trait), which starts at 0 and caps at 1000. It goes like this. 0-350 E. 351-500 D. 501-700 C. 701-900 B. 901-999 A. 1000 S.

It affects the chance of getting + products. The higher the parameter, the higher the chance that one byproduct will become +. Since it is chance, the number you get is not fixed, unless it is S, when you only get + stuff. For example, if it is A, the chance is 50%, so if your animal produces 20 items each time, you usually get 7-13 + products, but sometimes you can get extreme values like 3 or 17. Overall, you get 10 +products in average.

I think that Timid might hinder the growth of this parameter a bit. Coat follows the same pattern. And when I started increasing both coat and quality in my timid animals, I think coat got to D a bit faster than quality. But take this with a grain of salt.
