I now have to redo an entire day in which I bought a seed maker, made seeds of EVERY crop from spring and summer, and unlocked some stuff at the ruins and then spend an entire day hanging around waiting to unlock a romance event because of the stupid as all heck merging system in this game.

First of all, why on earth would they put merge all as the first option when that's going to nerf all your items. Also, why on earth did they make it so that merge all really does merge every single thing in your bag even if you are in a sub group like food or other. They should have just made it merge all the items IN THAT SECTION!

I accidentally hit merge all while trying to organize my storage, I really wish there was a fridge but that's another issue. I would have taken the hit if it was just my crops (I was in the crops tab at the time) even though it KILLED my tomatoes but it also killed all of my seeds! I had 2 star watermelon and tomato seeds that just got destroyed.

Someone, please, please tell me I'm missing something here. This can't be as obnoxious as it seems.

EDIT: Okay NOW I see the merge crops section. I still think it's poorly designed. Merge all should just be for the section you are in. It's just a headache.

That's strange. In the japanese version you could choose between merge all, merge only that subgroup, and select just the items that you want to merge. Did they take out that feature in the english version?

No I just didn't see it. This was all an accident button press. I still think though that they should have been in a different order. Putting them in the reverse order of what they have now would prevent this sort of miss click annoyance.

My only complaint with merging is that I now need to manually merge all animal byproducts together in my storage/bag. Other than that, I think the select-merge method is a really nice feature.

That sucks.

My issue with merging is that it's stupid that items of the exact same quality don't auto-merge unless collected together in the first place, so I have to go through the tedious process of select + merge to free up space all the time.

If they don't merge is because their quality is not exactly the same, even if the number of stars is the same.

Well for things like milk that don't have any qualities except the star ranking, some hidden value that has no impact on the game should not be taken into account and they should auto-merge.
