Does anyone have tips on money making?

I haven't played/completed any HM games since Animal Parade so bear with me...

I'm finding myself spending lots and seemingly not making enough, and it seems like everything has gotten more intricate and complicated. I'm enjoying the game immensely, but I'm worried I'm not progressing as well as I should be. (For reference, I currently have around 30k after building the big barn/coop, have the normal house, have all three towns unlocked, and have no upgraded tools whatsoever.)

Does anyone have moneymaking tips or a personal moneymaking guide? It's okay if it isn't something you can do immediately, I'm fine with gradually working towards being able to use a method, but it would be nice if you could give me advice in the meantime. So that being said, starter/basic moneymaking tips are also VERY welcome.

OP here, it would also be helpful if someone could point out any beginner mistakes one could make, like using the wrong fertilizer or cooking something that would drastically decrease the products value.

Thank you!

Gemstones are an easy way to make a *ton* of money, but it means it may take longer to upgrade your tools or make clothes (since you'll need gemstones for cloth making later)

But I think it's worth it to sell stones like agate, jade, topaz, peridot, pink diamond etc so you can buy all the supplies you need to make money with crops and animals later

Edit: as for which gemstones to save, the most important ones are rubies and amethysts, and firefly stone and adamantite. Try to get 10 of each so you can upgrade your watering can and hammer a couple levels (they are the most important tools to upgrade, being able to water faster is a huge QOL improvement)

I notice that the 'hot milk' drink sells for quite a bit. It is my main way of making money right now, at least. I also sell any gifts I get from completing jobs around the other villages. I'm no millionaire, but I get by.

- Use the fertilizer for Colour first (I think it's the sparkling one)

- Save all wild herbs, flowers, and fruit. You CAN sell Moondrop Flowers if you really need some extra cash since they are fairly abundant, but hold onto them if you can. (Weeds are 100% fine to sell. You can always pick up ~a dozen doing a Weeding part-time job if it turns out they're needed later in the game.)

- Save at least 1 of every crop at the end of the season to use to make new seeds the next year when you have the seed-maker.

- Upgrade Hammer efficiency ASAP to open up an extra mining point, then focus on your Watering Can, since you use it more than anything else. Each upgrade will help, either saving time or stamina.

- Don't sell Milk or Eggs unless/until you have a Shipping part-time job that asks for them.

- Keep at least 20 grown flowers for Shipping part-time jobs.

- Don't chop twigs/branches when you find them; pick them all up and when you have a bunch (or when you need the lumber) "Place" them in one stack on the ground & chop them together to save time & stamina. You can do this with twigs & branches from trees & stumps that you've chopped down too.

- Save Sardines for bait and a Pearl Oyster if you get one. Most other fish are fine to sell, at least in the beginning.

If you get the discount buff from being ford's test subject, you can buy milk from the stall and cook it into hot milk for a profit
selling gems is also viable!

IF you have the 3rd village at D rank connection, there's a money exploit to be done, but if you do it excessively it'll probably make things less fun. (It also ends up making tsukuyasa's town link rank go wAAAAAAAy up)

When it hits rank D, buy the recipe for rice porridge from the tea shop. Then buy the rice and Soy sauce from moriya's shop. and then ship!
if you're in veteran i know its a profit of 80g and much higher in seedling, obviously.
