Can't place large barn

Do I have to remove my small one first? But then I have to sell my cow
I'm confused. I have cleared space for the barn but it says I can't place it

Boulders and trees often take up more space than they appear, and sometimes little tiny tree sprouts are hard to spot. Try moving a 1-square farm circle (like a pet house) around your 3x3 area to check that each square is clear (blue), and then remove any obstructions.
