Are items perishable in this game?

Sorry if this question has already been posted, but I just started this game. Am I correct in assuming that crops/food etc. do not have a freshness rating?

In Summer of year 1 and have not seen any so far, so I think it's safe to assume they don't.

I can't remember where I read it and I can't turn anything up on Google but I do remember seeing one of the localization team members saying that food never spoils. So, I guess you can still cook with year old milk. Ewww.

Yeah, it's not really realistic, but this is one of those cases where I'm willing to suspend my disbelief for the sake of convenience haha.
