Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
The supports themselves were fine, there are a lot of really good ones (L'arachel X Ephriam and Jaffar X Nino come to mind), it's the process of getting them that really isn't good. Grinding support in Awakening and Fates is easy as you have the pair up mechanic which makes it build very, very fast. In the GBA games, it was having the units stand next to each other for a varied amount of turns until the 'talk/support' option appeared in the menu, and you used one of your turns to watch the conversation. In Sacred Stones, it wasn't too much of a problem as like Awakening (and Gaiden before it) it has a world map and you could just have endless skirmishes until you had all the supports you needed.PeachyKeen wrote:idk how to feel about having the GBA supports :/ I haven't played the GBA games myself, but I heard the support conversations were...not good?
But with the previous two GBA games, there is no grinding outside arenas on certain battle maps so you would most likely kill all the enemies except one, and then pass the turns until you got to the support level you needed. It wasn't impossible to achieve the supports you wanted, but really quite tiring.
What I have seen with Echoes (with what gameplay has been shown) is that support was building between units that were several tiles away from one eachother, and that the support 'blip' (heart in Awakening/Fates) would show up after they had performed an action (fighting). I'm not 100% sure what to make of it, but it looks like a mix of GBA and 3DS support systems. If the supports themselves happen in battle and not on the map screen, then it leans more towards the GBA system (and vise versa if otherwise).
