Omg ikr!! Persona games always do this there's just so MUCH. And then when I think I've gotten a grasp of things, the game's like "HEY LOOK. THERE'S THIS OTHER THING YOU COULD SPEND YOUR TIME DOING!"
As long as I make the perfectionist part of my brain take a back seat, then it's fine though. I like how it means that if I do another playthrough at some point (which I inevitably will), it'll be pretty different from my current file.
Maybe it's because I'm on Normal but the third dungeon wasn't nearly as hard as I was led to believe, though I haven't beaten the boss yet.
Spoiler:
those dogs scared the « Puppy Doodoo » outta me though
Kinda worried since the second boss was really hard for me and almost had me resort to grinding lol
How the second boss went for me:
Spoiler:
Me on the first phase: "Ha, that was easy!"
Me for everything after that: "« Snuggly Bunny »"
Edit: Oh and Shiki-Ouji is broken as hell and I can't believe they let you make a Persona like that so early. Nulls gun and physical attacks, has a weakness to a rare spell, and has multiple AOE spells and physical attacks wew lad
The second boss was really hard for me on Normal too. I was made to believe you don't really need to grind in this game so I just went for it at like level 17 and I barely beat the boss, used an embarrassing amount of revives and still had someone KO'ed by the end. I considered reloading after beating it just because I did so poorly lol.
I'm guessing I was just horribly unprepared instead of underleveled but idk?
also small spoilers for after? second dungeon:
Spoiler:
Makoto following you around school while pretending to read is so cute omg
Second boss was « Cow Poopoo » hard, but imo it kind of made up since it had a less impressive design compared to the first one.
Imo i think the 3rd dungeon is easy so far, but one missstep and your « Mr.Gourmet's hat » is grass. Those critical/teammate type weaknesses can really screw you over.
Imo regarding social links, I'd prioritize your teammates, mishima, shady doctor, and maybe the first few of sojiro?
Spoilers for the perks of a social link available in the middle of 3rd dungeon arc.
Spoiler:
Apparently fortune teller has a max rank perk that allows the player to see perks of social ranks they have yet to achieve which makes great planning/prioritizing but she costs some srs money for her social links and also a lot of kindness.

That spoiler and an additional one regarding another social link
Spoiler:
100K yen is a lot to start the social link. I mean, I had that much before, but equipment came first, and the teacher's temp. social link is expensive too.
You need a lot of money to be able to do everything in this game.
Think I'm going to focus mainly on stats this playthrough since
Spoiler:
they carry over in NG+ and I won't have to worry about them.
Just finished with the first dungeon last night. So slow I know and I'm playing in easy mode too. I died a lot as well before reaching the treasure. But man, SP regen items were hard to come by in this game (missing the recovery clock already). I can't wait to grind. I felt that I did poorly in my first dungeon run.
About fusing personas, does anyone feel
Spoiler:
bad changing it to execution style? I know it's just a game but I feel bad that I always skipped it when fusing.

I was about level 17 when I fought that boss too. I was lucky enough to have the AI fall into my favor since I had a skill that nullified Ann's weakness to ice and the boss kept trying to get a one more off of her. I also stocked up on a few multi healing items since I had the funds for it. Personally leaning towards preparedness being needed for this fight since each member of your party is weak to one of its elemental attacks.
Making coffee at night is a good way to save items for sp, But it takes away from night time activities by a lot.
Theory/observation ANDl spoilers about the bosses (up to the third one).
Spoiler:
Sseems like the seven deadly sins theory aspect that was suspected during the initial trailer released held true, just with the bosses and not the heroes.
First = lust
Second = greed
Third = gluttony (imo heavily close with greed but they really go all out with the gluttony/pig/beelzebub metaphors and references.)
Also it doesn't help that he looks a lot like Light from Death Note and he's a detective to bring out the comparisons even more.
I didn't catch this then but people mentioned that back at the TV Station he talked about pancakes when Morgana was the only one who mentioned that which made him even more suspicious to me.
And all his questions seem to be bait so that you can tell him info about the Theives <_<
I thought he might be the Black Mask guy but then why would he be hanging with the cops >_>
Either way every time he shows up I'm like: "pls go" I know he's a party member but I don't trust this guy as far as I can throw him

Spoiler:
ooh now there's a thought. Tbh I expected him to be the snitch/traitor but didn't expect him to be the Black Mask but that would make quite a bit of sense...
Although (major spoilers/theories that idk if you've seen yet, its after the completion of the 3rd dungeon arc)
Spoiler:
since its implying that black mask is the one pulling all the strings and has a bunch of powerful, influential adults in power under his fingertips; id find it veeeeeery reaching that it was all run by a singular high schooler.
But the he just gets on my nerves and is sketchy as hell especially how riled up he gets about them
Managed to plow through the fourth dungeon (with the exception of the boss) in the span of 5 hours or so. Mostly due to my team set up. "Striker" oriented fighting is super OP. You just need one buffer/healer at most (although with the auto heal after battles u only really need an emergency healer the).
Sp is hard to come by in the beginning, so i would strongly advise folks getting used to physical combat oriented teammates like Ryuji. Boy hits like a train.
Just a really neat dungeon in general. Never got too hard, was cool-looking and had a great theme. And I looooove the music in there. Might be my favorite dungeon music yet.
Also I really like Futaba. She's so cute. That dungeon was sad though
Now we're getting to the stuff before the 5th palace and it feels like the pacing has grinded to a halt (on 9/17)
Spoiler:
Summer Vacation was great but I didn't really see the point of going to Hawaii literally a week later (and that sounds outrageously expensive for a high school lol) There were some funny moments with Yusuke and I guess we got a little bit of info on the next villain but it seemed to be ultimately pointless
And it may have been detrimental in the end because while I was singing Ryuji's praises early on in the game he has become quite grating as of late because he's either been doing dumb stuff like yelling out how we're the Phantom Thieves or perving on girls 24/7. He's basically turned into Yosuke but not homophobic. I still like Ryuji but man what a bummer since he started out so strong on the bro scale.
But back to the pacing, everything about this is pretty uninteresting. Haru is boring and even with her appearing like 4 times before her true introduction they never made any attempt to integrate her into the plot a la Akechi so I'm finding it hard to care about her now that she's getting in on the game 60 hours in.. Also I've heard the 5th palace is really bad so the fact that it's already taking so long to get there is not comforting.
I think I would have more sympathy for Morgana if I hadn't asked him like 3 times what was wrong with him only for him to turn me down on explaining. Really it's only Ryuji that screwed up so idk why he's taking it out on all the group.
