Reading Hinata's dialogue right now, I think he's more possessive one. ^^;
I'm starting to see that. :o Dang Hinata. Though I don't mind someone who's a little clingy but that's too much. Maybe I made the right choice after all...
Hinata has dropped to sit with Ford in the "I doubt I will date you" list I have made. Wayne is just...adorable...and then once DLC comes out I may try to court Inari in my second file...
Ironically Ford just made it onto "I might date you later" list. The other thread convinced me to give him another shot. I liked Hinata, but I don't like the over possessiveness in guys. Escaped one in real life, but that's all I should say about that. A little bit is fine, but I need space.

Afterthought Edit: Which bachelor is the least possessive?

Probably Inari...since you rarely do anything with him till DLC...

I don't believe that Ford is very possessive off the top of my head.

Holy moly... Hinata dialogue is more possessive/yandere if you compare it with Yuzuki, Yuzuki only had like 4-5 possessive lines, but it's not overwhelming like Hinata...

People nowadays in Japan really love a do-S boy (I actually like a bit too lol) that's why somehow possessive boy with cute appreceance is kinda trending rn

Thanks for your answers. Figured Ford wouldn't be and poor Inari can't leave the shrine. I guess I would prefer a bit more balance in terms of possessive vs. distant anyway. Hopefully I'm making sense. Hinata's lines are throwing up all sorts of red flags for me. Glad I did some more reading. Yuzuki seems tame by comparison. :o

I won the Legend level Harvest Festival yesterday and Ford had a line about how he overheard someone referring to me as "that cute chick," and how he didn't know he'd have to deal with "exterminating insects" even after marriage, and I think that's the most possessive thing I've ever heard him say. In his confession and some of his events, he goes out of his way to acknowledge that you are your own person and he has no right to try to control you or your actions, which I really liked.

I'm currently dating Ford and I feel like he is one of the least possessive, but then I haven't read a lot of dating/married dialogue from others.
In direct contrast with Hinata's line about not going to any of the other towns' festivals, I just did the hot air balloon festival with Ford. Speaking to him beforehand, he says that of course you can go to the other towns' festivals, but that he was hoping you could go to the Starlight Gala together.

In a weird way, this thread has helped me out a lot, lol.
When I started going steady with Ford in game, it was a very tough choice for me between him and Hinata, and even after like a month in game I was still not sure if I'd made the right choice, as I ended up liking Hinata a lot more than I thought I would initially. After reading some of his post-dating lines, I think Ford is the better fit for me anyway. And I've only grown to appreciate him more as a character as I go on.

Not to knock Hinata, and I do still like him, just less so. It's all about how you interpret the characters, and I wouldn't tell anyone not to pursue him if they like 'im.

Same here. Hinata and Yuzuki were tied for me. I was thinking of Hinata for my second play through as I married Yuzuki first. Though now with all the possessive dialogue coming up, I don't think I will. I still like Hinata but don't think I can handle this side of him. Also feeling like I made the right choice. It's strangely comforting in a way.

Basically a super assertive, aggressive personality type.

I don't think Hinata is anywhere near that, and fwiw I don't think he's even that possessive... I think changing social norms are driving a feeling that leave lines like "I want you all to myself" putting a bad taste in players' mouths. Localization teams need to adapt to give the lines the appropriate feelings (e.g., "I want to make sure we get to spend some quality time alone together"). Alan in ANB was more like do-S.

Ok, so I just went back and re-read this whole thread (which admittedly I maybe should have done before I posted), and I see what people are saying. I don't think this is intended to be creepy by the devs, and I stand by my previous statement. But, yeah, there are a lot of Hinata lines that have been posted here that feel weird. The festival win one especially.

I think this also comes back to the fact that Hinata is the least mature bachelor.

ehh, im not really good at explaining, spoiler because many people will find it kinda disturbing
Spoiler:
it means sadistic, its a boy who kinda sadistic to his girl, like... bite her, possessive af (like hinata), not letting her go, caging her etc, he love her, but he enjoy "love-torture" her, do-S is used for this kind of context, not actual sadist like torture you (read: psychical abuse)

while the other is do-M (masochist), is the person enjoying being caged, let your partner "love torture" you.

im sorry im not really good at explaining lol

if you still curious enough you can try watch Diabolik Lovers, and please note again, its kinda disturbing, because its kinda hardcore if you compare with another series.
Allen is super do-S lol, i try dating him before, but immediately kinda regret it, and turned around into Neil...

pssh, i actually like do-S too, but i dont like it if its too much lol

I definitely agree with the changing social norms theory. Dialogue that could have been perceived as romantic at one point in time now feels archaic, especially in cases like this where outdated gender roles are becoming less pervasive.

Changing social norms indeed. "Thanks but no thanks, Ford. I can exterminate insects on my own."

Still really good points. I think I'm too much of my own person to find the "you're all mine" lines as romantic. At least in overdose. A rephrase would have been a good idea.
