I wish they would take lines like that and not make you hear them so often. Like Fords dumb festival line about genetics. A throw- away line isnt discerning, but when its repeated over and over it becomes a bigger annoyance
There's a difference between being flirty and saying 'your smile is so cute I wish only I could see it' versus actually being angry, which Hinata was (at least, according to the art they used in that scene), so I don't think it's fair to play it off just because a similar sentiment can be expressed in a more light-hearted way.
Personally that would be a red flag for me, IRL or in a game, especially after I just accomplished something, but to each their own. No character is perfect anyway, so not all their lines will appeal to everyone.

Ok i didnt know that he had a mad face (ive only seen that line in particular through text) so i agree that is messed up. Its never ok for someone to angrily say that to you. For me this then would be as bad as Fords beginner festival line, so ill just avoid that dialogue too. I wonder if these bad lines are a result of a bad translation, different culture, or what but I wish they werent in here.

I imagine the lines exist because the ~possessive/obsessive lover~ is a trope that has been... popular in books/film/TV in recent years, so the writers (or translators, I'm not sure if the lines were the same in the original) put them in thinking that they would appeal to people. I think the HM series is the wrong kind of game to be sneaking them into, though.

Unfortunately it has been in popular media too much. :( Stalking is not romantic. It's creepy, call the cops.

Hinata is definitely not the abusive type. Just too clingy.

Totally. I think I will still end up picking Hinata to marry, he cute and for once the younger looking guy doesnt look illegal lol. All the other guys are a little boring or have bad lines too so I'm not gonna ditch him over this. I hope they leave this « Puppy Doodoo » out of the next game tho :(

I know this is off topic, but I don't get what people see is so wrong with Ford's festival line. I know which line it is but I don't see anything wrong with it, yet so many people get mad over it???

Superior genetics is a messed up way to 1. Complement someone who worked their but off, that crop didnt win because of a humans genetics, and 2. Its a awful phrase with connotations far reaching and racist. I feel like it could be seen as racist no matter the race of the person he says that to. Its very offputting.

That said, in the Japanese he said iirc that you had talent you shouldnt waste, which is a much better way to say that sentiment. That being said, its a translation issue, and not really a reflection of what the creators intended for his character, so I think its fair to disregaurd and ignore this line. I avoid speaking to Ford a lot at festivals at beginner rank so I dont have see it.

Anything that leads to more games with male yanderes getting translated to English can only be good I think? There's nowhere near enough English games with love interests like that or me. It's my favorite, and they don't think there's a market here so they never get translated, so I'm happy when the possessive guys in these kinds of games are popular since that shows there is one. More on topic, before the game came out I was leaning towards Hinata, and I haven't reached Tsuyukusa in game yet and actually liked Ludus, but this is making me reconsider Hinata again.

It isn't meant to have any race related connotations, in my opinon, it was just a poorly worded 'sciency' way of saying "you're a natural, don't waste it". Sadly the translators didn't seem to take into account the different ways to interpret it.

People have been saying that Yuzuki is possessive, and manipulative sometimes. I've never noticed it in the time I dated Yuzuki and the short time I was married to him. (Because I accidentally saved my second file over my first file...-_-) One of my friends said that he reminded her of a yandere. Can anyone show me how he is possessive/manipulative?

Yuzuki is definitely not a Yandere, but a possessive with sly side, with his gentle, and kind personality outside (he is so polite, he still call MC with honorifics in Japanese version, when still dating)

Tbh, that trope is one of the Japanese audiences favorites  welp, I like that trope too

Those Yuzuki dialogues are quite scary. It almost feels like he'll go around murdering people if the MC breaks up with him :(

That's reading waaaaay too much into it, imo... I know people have fun getting carried away with interpretations but I think all the bachelors in this game are really benign. Like no one is particularly possessive or controlling, even the clingier guys. I remember it was only a couple games ago that we had bachelors like Allen, and one game ago where pretty much *everyone* had some melodramatic jealousy-focused heart event, lol
