So I tried searching for how to get the + for the wools and fur but there were so many comments about the trading thread that I did not see my exact answer. How do I get the + from wool and fur?

If you have the Feed Maker farm circle, you can make Deluxe Fodder, too (same effect as Crispy Treats). But it takes Fodder+ any Vegetable+ any small Fish and 12 hours per piece. So it's nice if you're in a hurry and want the byproduct level boosted as quickly as possible, but I'd recommend making one piece at a time and the Maiden with Spear power circle to speed up the processing.

Best way to raise byproduct level is using Flamingo statue or Chicken king statue. They stack up to 4 and work giving +10 to byproduct level when the animals are feed or given a treat. You can use either crispy/deluxe for even faster raise, or any other kind to do 2 parameters at same time.

Yeah, animal coat doesn't do anything in terms of providing higher quality wool. The coat stat is just for the animal competition festivals.

Festival wins increase the brand. So you can make more money off the wool at least. Plus the highest level always has it as a judging point. So it'll be easier to gain the prizes if you're after all the outfits. So it's not a bad thing to invest in coat level.

Also does increasing your animal's size do anything for you aside from winning contests?

It's basically bonus points added to your festival score. Max of +30 according to site: http://fogu.com/sos2/events/festivals/season13.html

Nope. Same as the Coat stat - just for festival wins.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wool can't be 5 star without raising the animal's coat level.

I'm pretty sure this is the case. At least according to Cher's guide on the matter. http://fogu.com/sos2/your-farm/byproducts.html Details on Coat is all the way at the bottom.
