E3 2017 - Ushi's 5th Annual Information & Discussion Thread
Stoked to see what potential new games will be announced as well as Switch news in general. Hoping we get a Monster Hunters Switch NA release date (hopeful) along with some teasers for games that haven't been announced yet. I am just excited about looking forward to new games. Hoping they give some new information about the remake of FF7 because I mean really what's going on, I need to know. Hoping for a Fire Emblem or Animal Crossing Switch game announcement. Hope they talk about Virtual Console for the Switch so we know where they are at with that and how intensive the library will or will not be (would love to play HM 64). Mmmm, would be cool to hear about some new Dragon Age information but not expecting that (but would be super cool)! While I play all consoles, and I have a nice PC, my excitement lies with Nintendo this year.
Looking forward to a lot!

I still can't find a Switch!!!!!
I hope we can see Harvest Moon or Story of Seasons Switch this year.
I'm pissed off that Fire Emblem Warriors will focus mainly on Shadow Dragon, Awakening, and Fates. LAME! I want Genealogy of the Holy Wars, Thracia 776, and Radiant Saga cast!
I am prepared to be disappointed by the Pokemon Direct tomorrow TBH. Not because the game will suck, but it doesn't sound like it'll be Pokemon Switch. Will probably be a 3DS game. I love my 3DS, but I also want to see a big budget Pokemon.
Who here actually managed to buy a Switch here?

I wouldn't have known the E3 was soon if it weren't for this topic, thanks.
Mostly hoping for news about FE or SoS, but I'd love seeing smaller games get announced too.

Yeah. I don't mind me some Awakening/Fates, but they keep using the same characters.Terranigma Freak wrote:I'm pissed off that Fire Emblem Warriors will focus mainly on Shadow Dragon, Awakening, and Fates. LAME! I want Genealogy of the Holy Wars, Thracia 776, and Radiant Saga cast!
I was only able to get my hands on a Switch due to a friend being unable to pay for his preorder and giving it up to me (he got another one recently so nbd).Terranigma Freak wrote:I still can't find a Switch!!!!!

And I am excited for FE Warriors despite it's cast. I do like the Awakening cast and i'm 50/50 on Fates. I feel like whoever they pick from Shadow Dragon will be the most obvious choices like Caeda and Tiki, but if we get Xane, I will fangirl scream like i've never before. I also see a lot of DLC in the game's future if Hyrule Warriors was any indication. Mayhap we get Lief and Sigurd somewhere down the line. ._.
And I'm excited for the Pokemon Direct today regardless of what it ends up being. I want a big budget Pokemon too, but if it's on the 3DS again, i'll still buy it.
Is that chart saying that Bethesda starts a 12:00 Midnight for the US East coast?
Well Bethesda is about all I'm really looking for. I love to role-play in their big open worlds like TES and FO. Rumored that they will be announcing a new franchise so really looking forward to see what will be sucking away my life next year.
Nintendo Switch just hasn't caught my attention yet. Waiting to see what happens there. However if they start making Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, Harvest Moon, Fantasy Life, etc. games for it I may have to jump in. Would like to wait for the Switch to be remodeled some as there's a lot I don't like about it's current configuration. But with all the versions of GBA and DS and even 3DS I'm hoping the newer styles get better.
EA I just want to fail. Don't know if I've ever generally disliked a company so badly. No interest in them at all.
Since I have no desire to buy a new console I'll have little interest in games that are only for them. Consoles IMO have just become to social and MP happy and I'm just a solo guy who wants to be left alone and play games by myself.

Me! I was able to use nowinstock.com and kept open my browser for in-stock alerts and snagged one. I used that site with the FE Fates special edition as well during that fiasco. It seems like the Canadian one (which I use) has them pop up more frequently than the US side, so not sure it would be much help :/Terranigma Freak wrote:I still can't find a Switch!!!!!

So many people super upset about the Pokemon news over on other forums lol. If there's enough new content I might pick it up, otherwise I'll probably pass.
Me! Stalked Nowinstock.com but actually got one on Amazon, got an alert as soon as it became available and used my Amazon Prime account to get it in two days.. Amazon Prime Now actually had a few as well in my area (but not available in most areas).Terranigma Freak wrote:Who here actually managed to buy a Switch here?
Good luck man, they are hard to find! I didn't get it immediately because I was skeptical of battery life and had some concerns about it's portability capabilities but man do I love it and I am glad I found one!

Here's hoping that Nintendo shows off more than just Ultra SuMo, Splatoon 2, FE Warriors, and Super Mario Odyssey. It seems like they'll mostly be focusing on already announced games, but i'd love a few surprises.
In regards to 3DS releases, i'd like to see Snack World get an official announcement and as much as I want the other Yo-kai Watch games, i'm pretty sure they're saving them for next year looking at the schedule of the anime translations and the toy distribution. Everything else coming out in Japan this year is either a port of a DS game i've already played, or more FuRyu trying to make good RPGs.
Speaking of ports, if Nintendo is going to keep up this WiiU porting to Switch business, I can only hope for a Tokyo Mirage Sessions port as it was one of the few games I almost bought a WiiU for. Captain Toad would be cool too.

I'm not specifically talking about Legend of Legacy. Lost Dimension, Exstetra, Caligula are not horrible games per say, but fall short of being good RPGs, the same can be said for Legend of Legacy. They all do one thing right and then kinda fall off everywhere else. Lost Dimension has decent characters and good voice acting, but the battle system needed some more work and the story was pretty dumb. Exstetra played with a funny concept, but fell flat everywhere else (theres a reason this one never got localized). Caligula has great sound and character design, but the game runs horribly and it's repetitive nature gets old quickly. Legend of Legacy had fantastic music and an interesting battle system, but all the characters felt flat and there was almost no point to recruiting anyone else besides your beginning 3 plotwise, just to make better party formations.Anonymous Fish wrote:Just because you sucked at Legend of Legacy, does not mean it is a bad game. SaGa games are incredibly popular over there for a reason. So much salt. lol.Bluie wrote:FuRyu trying to make good RPGs
All i'm saying is FuRyu has been trying to make RPGs and only making mild successes. All the sales numbers for these games are considered pretty abysmal in Japan. Only Legend of Legacy broke 50k sales with the rest of them being considered financial failures (50k in the game's first week is considered the 'we broke even/our game is successful' selling number in Japan).
And you're right, SaGa games are pretty popular and that's probably the only reason Legend of Legacy did as well as it did. It pulled on the nostalgia of the gamers that have been playing since the beginning days and scratched the itch they needed gone while waiting for SaGa SCARLET GRACE, which broke over 60k in first week sales.
But popularity does not equal a good game. Myself and many others just found it OK. And that's fine, not everyone is going to enjoy the game you enjoy.
I am for one glad that FuRyu is taking their one successful game and trying to build on it with Alliance Alive, but after their track record, I don't think i'll be buying any of their games day one anymore. Call me full of 'salt' if you wish, but i've been playing games since the NES days, and I know what a good RPG looks, sounds, feels, and plays like. FuRyu's games have yet to impress me in all of those categories. It's good on them that they keep trying. Maybe Aliance Alive will finally be the one that wows me.
