Persona 5 Discussion

The original Persona 5 thread is a bit old and I figured it'd be good to get a new one started! How far are you? How many confidants have you completed? Who was your fav confidant?

I'm 2/3 of the way through the game, using like 3 different guides on GameFAQs and am on Safety because I want to plow through this game, see everything, and be done. I unfortunately don't have as much time to game so sinking 60+ hours into this game on the first playthrough is ALREADY pushing it, but I love it so much!

Also, playing on Safety is kind of hilarious if you're already Persona games before. I'm WAY over leveled and most bosses/battles are a joke, which is a nice change of pace from P3 and P4  Money is also NOT an issue, which means I can have as much fun as I want fusing Personas without worrying about compendium price. I recommend it for anyone just wanting to get a casual experience from the game - you can play at your leisure and not worry about grinding. Using the guides helped me max all my stats so I can easily access all of the confidants, so that's been a great perk too!

Current favorite character is Makoto! I love most of the cast waaaay more than I thought I would. Currently on the palace in November (not gonna spoil) and looking forward to catching up with the interrogation :lala:

I finished my second playthrough a month ago with all confidants maxed and a platinum trophy. Out of them all...I think my favorite has to be Futaba. My friend is currently going through it for the first time and she's making me want to go back and spend another 100 hours of my life on it. It's definitely my favorite Persona game and, so far, my game of the year.

@Ronin19:
I agree, this one tops P4 and P3 in my book! The confidants are WAY more interesting and I like how they all have a function in regards to the Phantom Thieves.

A few friends really enjoy watching me play because it's so cinematic. I like how much style and charm was put into the game's menus and small functions. I never thought I'd feel excited to check text messages in a game

What did you think of Mementos? I liked that it was a bit of a twist on an old idea (Tartarus in P3).

I like it better than Tartarus. I think it's nice to have this again, especially after having every dungeon in P4 be random. P5's Palaces are nice and I like that they're linear.

I finally completed it just a few days ago! Glad you're having such a good time with your playthrough~ At some point I'd like to go back and do New Game + and try and get a few more trophies, but I'm a little burned out atm omg.

Futaba was definitely a fave of mine. I really liked Sojiro too.

I played on Normal and never really had any issues with money either. Ughh I wish I didn't get so obsessive with everything and just let myself have more fun with it. If I 'wasted' an evening I'd be consumed with regret before resetting woops.

The ending is super good, so you're in for a treat~~~

Oh that's good to know! Haha I also got pretty obsessive with everything - ESPECIALLY time management. I accidentally missed a thing on the guide I was following and agonized about it. Oddly enough saving on multiple files kind of helped, even though I never really went back or reset

I AM SUPER PUMPED FOR THE ENDING (I read spoilers xD)
Spoiler:
Not really a spoiler but holy « Puppy Doodoo » I was royally creeped out when I heard Igor's new VA for the first time in-game. They picked a GREAT voice actor holy « Cow Poopoo ».

More of a spoiler: my wife has never heard Igor before so she thinks he's always sounded like this creepy villain. I am very excited for when she meets the real Igor at the end

Thank you for this thread! I wanted to post in the old one, but I had barely touched the game back in April/May with graduation and all.

I am on the last leg of the game, and I got to say, this Persona is my favorite one so far. I love everything about it, and it has been a while since I have been able to sink hours into a game and not feel a thing. I am currently on my first play through, and I'm trying to max all confidants, but given the time it takes to level up skills, go through Mementos, palaces, I'm running against the clock. I got to say, I managed much better in this version than I did in 3/4.

I have to be honest, I'm not a huge fan of Mementos. The music bores me to tears and I really only go there for missions to continue confidants. Other than that, I fly through it, do missions and get done.

Some ending spoilers below, so please refrain.
Spoiler:
This game is so much darker than 4 and I love it. I adore most of the characters, but I Ryuji annoys me so much. I love Yusuke and wish that the MC could be gay so I could date him. Also, in the tradition of Atlus games, Persona 5 does not do much for destigmatizing LGBTQ stereotypes. I'm trying to run a play through where my character's sexuality is ambiguous, and it has been working so far. I just wish for the future there could be more forward thinking representation. Also, « Snuggly Bunny » Akechi. I had a hunch he was going to be a « Sheep Squeezer », but part of me thought he was going to end up being on the Phantom Thieves' side. Can't wait to kick his « Mr.Gourmet's hat ».
I have been playing less since I started work, however. Hoping to get used to my schedule and get back on the grind with only a month left of the game.
