Wow that ending was... sadder than I thought it would be. Your bro's dead and so is Esna. WHAT AM I LIVING FOR???? Reminded me of Suikoden 1.
Also pretty « Snuggly Bunny » up of Shuet to make you fight your own brother, thanks brah
Good, charming game though it has the problem that's plagued JRPGs for years in that despite how short it is it still ends 3-5 hours later than I was hoping it would ~_~
Honestly it wouldn't have been that annoying if you didn't have to go back and switch party members for each and every thing in a dungeon. Easily the worst design decision in the game. I just flat out gave up on mining and digging nodes eventually because it was such a hassle going back and forth to get party members. And then you're required to go back because you need a certain party member for a puzzle and it's just really aggravating. Having to go back to your house to switch weapons is also another annoying design choice.
I'd be interested in a sequel but I do hope it fixes the above.

You don't have to go back to your house to switch weapons.

Then how do you switch weapons then?

You can change weapons through Shakuro. Which doesn't really help as that's also in town, but at least he's right by the warp portal. Just in case you forgot to do it while visiting room/synthesis tree.
Since each dungeon requires a bit of backtracking if you want to get everything anyway, my method of progression through the game's story was fairly prosaic. Come only with the things you need to get through the dungeon (which is displayed through those handy icons, after all...), make a mental note of the bonus area skills needed and come back later with those.
It also helps that they seem to like to put the digging and mining points right next to the warp panels as well, usually in rooms that don't have serious combat again after you clear out the story portions, so it is fairly easy to zap yourself around and gather things up if you're in a materials farming mood.
I really liked that this game was divided up into multiple things you can do so that you are never doing anything for so long that it becomes boring, but being able to switch party members and equipment more readily would have been a very nice QoL upgrade. Needing to switch party members or equipment certainly didn't frustrate me enough to stop playing at any point. Usually by the time I needed to go grab someone else or put on my Wand/Crossbow for puzzle solving action, the day had progressed enough to go do Oasis maintenance tasks as well.

For me if I come across a mining spot or whatever I just teleport home, get the character that I need and use the warp panel to teleport me back to the exact location I left. As long as I don't take on any new quests that give me the warning "if you take on this quest you'll lose your last >insert location<" (or whatever it says) anyway doing that I can clear out a whole cave without backtracking or exiting and re-entering all the time.
Still haven't finished the game (mostly because I got distracted playing Animal Crossing again) but I really love the story so far. I've read the spoilers so I know what happens (breaks my heart) but I still want to see for myself and finish the game eventually.

I just finished the game myself. I liked it a lot. The party I most often used was a Daruk and a Seedling wielding a bow. I found the MC to be extremely squishy, but liked their damage output with a sword, so I let the AI do it's thing with the MC and the Daruk while I shot the enemies from a distance. Worked pretty well in late game.
And now, spoiler territory;
Spoiler:
I liked the ending for two very different reasons. I like that the final bosses weren't over the top hard and I liked that the ending was bittersweet. It might be my age, but i'm tired of the 'they sacrifice themselves and then magically revive at the end for feelgoods.' Nope, she gone. Also, with MC being such a squishy-squish, some of the late game enemies were 1-2 shotting her even at level 20 and full rainbow power, so I appreciate the final bosses still having a bit of a challenge, but not beating my « Mr.Gourmet's hat » until all the healing items were gone.
Overall, good game. Worth waiting for and i'll certainly buy Grezzo's next game.

Sometimes I feel like it's my age but I'm getting tired of the whole self sacrifice angle, and I kind of feel like growing up with self sacrifice being painted as the best and most noble thing you can do no exception has contributed to a lot of the self esteem and people allowing themselves to be used and stuff I see a lot. I can say with all confidence personally it heavily contributed to me burning myself out and using myself up and now generally feeling like a useless nervous wreck.
Plus color me heartless but it's just more annoying than sad to me, I just don't care enough to be too sad about it. I think RF4 was the only one to really hit me in the feels with it since I was a kid... At least with being sad. Quite a few have made me mad.

Out of curiosity, how in-depth are the customization options? Are there a lot of outfits and are they gender locked, can you dye outfits, etc.

Outfits are not gender locked and you cannot dye them.
Adding on to this: you can only change the color of your skin and eyes for customization.

I just beat the game and man that ending. I really want another one but the sales aren't looking too hot for it D: Really enjoyed it though.
Was especially nice to have a smaller RPG to fit in between a few of the larger ones I've been playing recently.

I went into a dungeon for the first time and learned the hard way how bombs (they're not even bombs, they're plants that look normal and suddenly decide they want to explode) worked and then died. I hadn't saved.
Good game.

I just defeated the Razortooth in that one cave with Miura. It's a lot more fun now that I'm out of tutorial mode and things are starting to speed up.
