For those who'd like teenage children to be a option/return.
Many fans of the series are a bit shallow, apparently the fans in Japan even hate when the marriage candidates have the nerve to marry other people besides your character.
I can almost bet they wouldn't be too ok with their favorite virtual possession growing old and wrinkly and moving on beyond their "hot anime people" status.

But aging is part of life. Nobody stays young and hot forever. I know it's a game but....Getaris wrote:Many fans of the series are a bit shallow, apparently the fans in Japan even hate when the marriage candidates have the nerve to marry other people besides your character.

I'm just saying, if their main audience doesn't want their husbandos and waifus to even consider a relationship with anyone else, then I can assume they also won't like their husbandos and waifus to get different.
They tried it once with AWL, but never again. (and even there it was a bit of a mediocre effort, the only characters that actually age are the town kids, the rest of the town either never aged or got white hair+wrinkle texture swaps).

The thing with rivals is more about being greedy than shallow. At least that's my spin on it. With the way things are now, we can't be sure which it is.Getaris wrote:I'm just saying, if their main audience doesn't want their husbandos and waifus to even consider a relationship with anyone else, then I can assume they also won't like their husbandos and waifus to get different.

Personally I don't want everyone to get old because I don't want the game to actually end. That's my #1 problem with AWL too. When I quit playing I want it to be because I wanted to, not because the game made me.
And I know many games are to an end but this series isn't one of them and that's a lot of the charm for me. I can't say I'd be as interested in getting the games if they all started having an end unless it was as slow as actual aging and you get like 50 years before you die combined with the current style of new game+. Which still would cut out the usefulness of kids aging and make some people feel rushed to marry to squeeze as much kid time out of the game as possible to actually see them grow up I guess?
But yeah, basically for me personally I know death is a part of life but I don't play these games to be reminded of that. I play them to relax, and feeling forced to an end by a depressing truth is not relaxing in the slightest to me.

AWL and AnWL is my favorite and always will be and I wish they did a child system like that one. AP and AWL were the best games in that regard in my personal opinion. I liked the aging thing and the death part was sad but it didn't truly bother me. Although not everyone is like me so I guess I don't really know what would work best. Either way, I will still play with the series and I always enjoy replaying my favorites. So I'll be happy if they do it or not.
I would mind either as long as they aged slower. AnWL was too fast in my opinion.Celestrian wrote:AWL and AnWL is my favorite and always will be and I wish they did a child system like that one. That was actually their way of balancing the game.
In the original game, each chapter took between 1 to 3 years I think, and the game being as slow as it is, it was a huge grind to get through the years. It was a lot of commitment for a game that will most likely lull you to sleep in about an hour.
Edit according to a guide the chapters went like 1-2-3-2-1-1, that's 10 slow years to get through the story, as opposed to just five+inifinte time in the "aftergame".

Yeah, I've had my main AWL file for years, and I'm still only in the second year of the second chapter. Definitely doesn't go by too fastGetaris wrote:That was actually their way of balancing the game.
