I'd say..hmm that's tough..Terra575 wrote:If you had a friend who wanted to get into Harvest Moon for the first time, what game do you think would make the best introduction to the series?
I think Friends of Mineral Town/More Friends of Mineral Town or DS/DS Cute strike that nice balance of features vs too much.

Hrrrm. That is a toughie!
It might depend on what you'd think your (hypothetical?) friend might enjoy more about the series. Maybe one of the 2D entries to introduce the whole farming thing - Friends/More Friends of Mineral Town, perhaps - or one of the most recent to get the more current social feel of the games down, so SoS or Trio?

Hmmm good question. I think it really depends though! I know I have friends that wouldn't be so interested in the handheld games, so in that case I'd either show them BTN or ToT. But I'd say FoMT is maybe the safest option? It's really streamlined and easy to get into. Like there's not much of an intro - you just get straight into it. So it'd be a good taster if anything.
Also FoMT is really great.

I agree with M/FoMT being a good starting point. It has simple gameplay mechanics that's expanded upon in newer games and doesn't introduce too much that'd make it overwhelming for beginners. The game's fairly relaxed and doesn't have a ton of requirements that need unlocking so people can take their time playing. It also has a good cast and a nice amount of festivals for that social aspect.

Yeah I don't think I know anyone who has one!Getaris wrote:At this point it's best to assume that they don't
I'm pleasantly surprised most people are saying M/FoMT. Those are my favourite, but I wasn't sure if I was biased by recommending that one. Like Getaris said, it's a shame it's expensive now. :/
