Going for the Artist ending - how should I set up for it?

I am retrying HM: AWL (the Gamecube version) again, this time hoping to:
Marry Nami and turn my son (Vincent) into an Artist.
I want to marry Nami because her son has the highest Artistic inclination from the beginning, and I want the Artist ending.
Nami likes: Clay Artifacts and Skulls from the Dig Site, cooking, and is crazy for Fall Flowers (particularly Trick Blues.)
I know to:
Befriend Cody, Kassey, Patrick, and Sebastian
Show Vincent (our son) the Painting from befriending Cody (Chapter 4)
Show him RC2 (it looks like a bomb)
and
Primarily don't show him anything or anyone that could lead him AWAY from the Artisitic career.
By "set up for it," I mean are there things I can do earlier to promote a further interest in Art?

Not much set up for artist unfortunately aside from making the right friends and perhaps making some S rank crops to easily hybridize the Bomb crop later on (although not sure if it influences art. I've never tested it out to gauge the reaction to it).
Aside from that be very careful in Chapter 3 when Nami's son get the wooden box cutscene in his room. Answer negatively to the box or else it will give him massive scholar strength.
If you happened to marry Muffy, the chapter 3 cutscene would be the dead stick cutscene which influences art. Many players get the artist ending unintentionally when answering positively to this cutscene. Gives him a super boost in art strength.
Nami's son should be a natural at art as long as you don't go to crazy with some activities farming or digging. It's ok to do a little bit to pass the time. Just apply the brakes if he looks like he's getting swayed too much. Should be safe to do neutral activities like foraging or fishing.

One more question:
Is it OK to grow a couple of crops / care for cows, sheep, and chickens, as long as I don't directly show any to my son? Or will they passively influence him away from Art?
My current plan is:
Year One:
Woo the heck out of Nami, while befriending Cody, Kassey, Patrick, Sebastian, and Ramona.
Spring - grow crops and take care of the cow and maybe get a chicken or two. Perform the above listed wooing of Nami and befriendings.
Summer - same as Spring.
Fall - same as Spring and Summer, but pick those Fall Flowers for Nami!
Winter - see Spring
If I have the cow and chickens on my farm, will they sway my son away from Art? Or do I need to directly show them to him?

Having some animals and crops won't influence him much. The game does keep track of where you work. The crops you water and the cows you milk will give slight influence. But, Nami's son is heavily predisposed towards art from the beginning so as long as you don't go too crazy with a full field of 140 crops that you're spending all day to water you'll be fine. Trees are probably the most tame option because you ignore them for most of the year until harvest season.
So have your cows, your chickens, your little garden. You'll need them to stay occupied in this ridiculously long game. Just be sure to spend time to carry your son around in Chapter 2 and visit the artists of the town so he can make friends and he has his scratch pad in his toy box. After chapter 2, there's not much else to do other than monitor him.
