Hi all, I'm planning to play ToT after playing it last years ago. I married Gill in that run, but am now torn about who to marry. I have the green disc, so Calvin is already out of the question. I'm considering Phoebe or Chase, but since I have to choose different genders because of that (booo) I can't start until I decide if I'm going to pursue a male or female character.
A lot of talk centers around the guys in this game, especially Chase, Luke, and Gill, so I wanted to hear about people who've pursued different characters and can tell me about who was fun/interesting/cute, including after marriage. For girls, I'm mostly interested in Phoebe, Candace, and Selena, and for guys, it's Julian and Chase.
Experiences with marriage candidates
I married Owen on my girl file. He's really sweet and supportive. I also like having Chloe as a cousin-in-law.
In my boy file I married Renee (though I wish Elli was marryable!), and she's nice, but honestly kinda bland.
But between the bachelor(ette)s you mentioned, I prefer Candace first, though Phoebe is a really close second.
Between the guys, I guess I'd pick Julius. I'm not a big fan of characters like Chase and Selena who are kind of rude to you from the beginning.

I like Chase the best because he has sass. Juilus is my second. He just oozes self confidence and I love it. The only bachelor I was disappointed in was Toby (sorry fans). Basically for the same reasons Quigs gave for Renee. My sister married Luke and my best friend married Owen. Both were really happy with their choices. Nobody I know went for Jin.
Never played a boy file. If I did I would go for Candance. Though I'm not too interested in any of the bachelorettes besides her.

When I first played ToT (I'm about to start playing again!), I married Julius...although that was before I know what "gay" really was . When I think about it now, Julius basically IS gay! So, I'm not sure why he is an eligible bachelor for a girl? Lol. I mean, he is really sweet, which is why I think I married him, but there is something that bugs me about it now, like he's not really into women aha? Now, playing Animal Parade, I'm about to marry Gill and I'm working up all the girls for the rival marriages, except for Candace, because I feel too bad for her marrying him for this reason, so I won't trigger the rival events for that XD
I originally wanted to marry Calvin in ToT, then read about the glitch and realized my copy would be glitched too. Then I went for Chase, but read that both Chase and Calvin lead to a rude, hateful and angry child...so nope!! Who wants that kind of child?? Nobody lol. Also, if you marry Gill or Jin in that game, you get an ultra nerdy child, with massive round glasses that is overly mature and serious lol. So if you want just a cute, sweet child, you basically only have a choice of Owen, Toby, Luke or Julius. Not the case in AP though.

^ There's no evidence that Julius is gay because the only possible evidence for that would be if he expressed attraction for another man... which, as far as I know, never happens. He's more feminine than the other men, yes, but equating that with homosexuality is pretty problematic. Not all gay men are feminine, and not all feminine men are gay.
