Harvest Moon: Light of Hope - Rebuilding the Town

One of the previews I saw for light of hope said they were playing it entirely handheld with just touch on the switch (though they could just use buttons too). It was one of the sites with nintendo in the name but there's so many now I forget which one :( I like the returning characters! It's just like the old games.
I think that's NintendoLife. I remember their article being unusually positive about the game
Here it is: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/0 ... ht_of_hope
Yeah, this seems to be a continuation of what they did with Seeds of Memories, so full touchscreen controls similar to that game's was expected, but thankfully it will also accept traditional controls.
I do wonder though, will the PS4 version support the touchpad-thingy?

From the article:
But I tried Skytree Village as well because I was impressed at how many changes they made based on what the players wanted, and it was nice to have a proper village, but honestly it mostly felt like playing TLV again (except that the characters were less bobble-headed) and I didn't manage to get more than a season into it.
The Light of Hope? I'm finally going to pass. I still reeeeeeally dislike the art style (it is smoother, but it's just smoother ugliness, to me), and now it is flat so I can't spend my time terraforming and it was the only interesting thing to do, and it's THE SAME CHARACTERS WHO'VE BORED ME FOR TWO GAMES NOW. I like the idea of rebuilding a town but it doesn't begin to make up for the rest of what I'm seeing. :/
Seems like it'll be fun for anyone who liked Seeds of Memories, though, but I bought that, played a few days, and never wanted to look at it again...though I didn't think that was the game's fault so much since I just don't care for mobile gaming...I want dedicated console gaming. But in the end, I think I've given Natsume a fair shake. I'll give them another if they ever make anything I like the look of.
Well, if people are enjoying it, that's great; I don't need to like every farming game, I just want to, lol. I hope it turns out well.
Wow, really? It always gets me, how exactly what makes me hate a game is what makes someone else like it. I bought The Lost Valley because I was curious, and I enjoyed the mutations and found the challenge of the farming itself interesting, and it was nice that there were so many villager requests to fill...gives you something to do. but the characters were severely lackluster, the events were so dull I can't remember a single one of them, and the art style was painfully ugly. ONLY the farming was fun, for me.Farmers who have kept up with the Natsume-developed Harvest Moon series will recognize plenty of familiar faces in the love market, and our rep told us that the recurring appearance of characters — as with the cast running through the original game, Harvest Moon 64, Back to Nature, and Friends of Mineral town — has come up as a common theme when fans say what they love about the classic titles.

The video isn't bad, however I may not get this game regardless if I get a switch. The gameplay looks similar to SoM and that means I'll get bored really quickly. After upgrading everything possible and completing most of the story after two game years, you're literally stuck until your second child is born *coughs* no second pregnancy event *coughs*
Get this on iOS and then we'll talk.

So...I waited all of this time to learn about the game and it turns out they're using the same characters again? Not only that but while the models look smooth and the colors are vibrant, the people really stand out from the background...like, the entire environment looks like a backdrop on a stage play. It feels like you arent part of the environment.
Also I feel like this game was the perfect chance for them to bring in new characters. I was actually excited for this game even after beating Skytree(which I hated) because I figured they would try to start over again and go over their mistakes. It was impossible for me to find any pictures so I got excited assuming that we'd get an all new cast. Here's hoping they get rid of those annoying attempts at accents at least.
At this point they could just like...do a remake of sorts with one of their old games. They're already doing a story similar to ANB, if they want to go back to basics why not just remake an old game but put it in a new art style and give it the new contextual controls then slap on a new corny name?
This game also looks like a phone game...so I have more than enough reasons to not get it now. Oh well, not like anyone is forcing me to get it.

We knew they would be using the STV cast since e3. I think they'll at least neutralize the accents, since they did that to the TLV cast when they made SoM, so that's a possibility.
I doubt they can just go a remake the games they localized in the past. Even if they technically own them, it would probably be a legal nightmare.

Ugh... Alright Natsume. I gave you a fair chance. I bought and played (suffered through) Lost Valley, Seed of Memories, AND Skytree Village, but I am done. This looks awful to me personally. I am tired of these characters and find them boring. The graphics look weird, and it looks like a cheap mobile game to me.
I'll stick with Story of Seasons until I see something that interests me even remotely from Natsume...

I couldn't even last that long in Skytree Village before getting annoyed with it. It was boring and unenjoyable. I skipped The Lost Valley because of the characters since I found them cringe inducing. I also skipped Seeds of Memories from lack of interest. I decided I'd give them a chance with Skytree Village but I didn't like what I saw. I never thought a video could repel me from a game so quickly. Haha.

Lost Valley was painful and I never finished. I ONLY got Seed of Memories because I wanted to marry Gareth, but I couldn't stand it so I never made it that far. Skytree Village was definitely better, but still awful. I finished that game, but ONLY because I was doing a review for members on a Discord server. I never would have made it so far otherwise...
As much as I love Gareth I will not subject myself to this just for him. Only chance will be if it is on sale for $5 or less... :shifty:

Seeds of memories is still a relaxing game if you want to play something with a empty mind. Just wish they'd add more to it :/Celestrian wrote:I couldn't even last that long in Skytree Village before getting annoyed with it. It was boring and unenjoyable. I couldn't find any videos that showed a clear shot of the game's characters at e3 so I wasn't sure whether or not they'd be the same. But you're right, it would be a legal nightmare. I just find it hard to believe that a game that looks like that is going to be on the p4. I know Stardew is, but it's an indie game and at least it's art style is more bearable. That's enough out of me, though. I've no interest in this so there's no sense complaining.Getaris wrote:We knew they would be using the STV cast since e3. And I don't blame them. What you did was being a jerk.DivadLa wrote:I won't be buying this. I'll stick with SOS.
Oh, and Natsume blocked me on Facebook for posting a Wiki link to SoS on their video. Hahaha
If you did not like what they made, then move on. No need to post video of another game from its competitor and act entitled like "Make me game like this" when they don't want to make a game like SoS.
Criticism is okay. But what I found most of the time is people being « Snuggly Bunny » up and act like a bully and it's disgusting. If you want them improve, then give them criticism, not belittle them.

Can't really talk about them anywhere else without people either mistaking or framing being rude about them as constructive criticism.
Honestly found the first SoS a poorly thought out in many aspects mess personally, but never really just got nasty or tried to harass fans or Marvelous about it... Honestly I expected so much better of them the pacing was...EEEHHHHH
Though I get just because it's nigh unplayable for me doesn't mean there's any reason to be rude or anything, nothing is for everyone. I don't mind people not liking something or expressing it even, I'm just tired of how nasty it gets omg.
Also in before someone's all like well you just hate SoS games like... No? I like Trio pretty well, and think if you took a few things from the first ((like decorating omg)) Trio would be even more amazing. The pacing was just off in SoS IMHO...And it's too easy to either burn yourself out or be done with the bulk of farming by the time you get the best tools...
