OMG you too!? I'm a plant murderer in real life... ;~; I try so very VERY hard to keep them alive. I read all the info. I research online. I do what it says. They still die... I have no green thumbs. Only black... ;~;SakuraMota wrote:
Absolutely. I enjoyed TLV quite a bit, and often said it only had a few flaws that kept it from its full potential. Skytree fixed the vast majority of those flaws for me and was a superbly enjoyable game. I just enjoy games about growing plants, gaiz. Mostly because I can't keep them alive in real life.
I am all for criticism, I'm all for people expressing their tastes, but when it gets really nasty or just illogical, it frustrates me.
I have killed 3 lucky bamboo plants and a bonsai tree... I have just told people to stop buying me plants... >.> The most I can handle is prolonging the life of cut flowers. Everything else dies...Getaris wrote:Plants hate me.
So if I ever buy a house with a yard I have to have enough money for a gardener!
Nah, it's fine.SakuraMota wrote:Was more a general observation, sorry. I was typing that before you posted.Bluie wrote:Not sure if that was directed at me? I'm just having a logical conversation.
Anways, i've made my point clear, and as I said on the first page of this thread, I do want Natsume to succeed, I do, but it's a bit painful to watch them. I see and understand what they're trying to do with the series, but it's not grabbing the audience like they want it to. Skytree was very enjoyable, they're on the right track, but are just 'outclassed' at the moment.
AND it doesn't help that everyone is trying to get into the 'farming sim' pie right now. I mentioned it a few pages back, but another farming sim is coming to Switch(and 3DS) called Picontier. Yet another farming sim to add to the growing pile. *side glances Steam*

@Samansu: RIP, every single garden I've tried to have ever. ;_;
On topic: I have no doubt that the overall populous is average to bleh on the Nats games. I don't pretend they're masterpieces. But then I also don't pretend the BokuMono games are either, and I also have a fair few criticisms for Stardew Valley, and I have like 900 hours in that game or something. I think the problem is people compare in general, rather than look at each one individually. And of course, in this scenario, Nats/LoH is the underdog: SoS is a 20+ year series that has loads of experience under its belt, and Stardew Valley was in development for over half a decade, so it had a long time to be polished, not to mention it got tweaks and gameplay added after the game launched. Meanwhile, Natsume is only on their 4th title, and each game they're released has shown improvement and that they are listening to fans. I guess I get a little weary of the "opinions stated as facts" criticisms of the Nats games. Things like "this game is ugly" "literally no one wants this." Whether or not a game's art is ugly is subjective (for the record, I do like LoH's art direction), and saying no one wants something is an ambitious statement. There are 7 billion people on the planet; I'm sure someone wants it, even if that someone is only me.
Random thought: You know what farm game no one has attempted that I really want to see? A stab at Innocent Life. Like, not a clone of it, but just the concept of futuristic farming. So, sooooo many possibilities. Like, I was thinking about it the other day and how neat it could be. Harvest Sprites could be robots you have to repair or something....you could have auto-watering tables you could set up...you could have android marriage candidates/have the option to play as an android so you can have the option to be childfree...text alerts when things are done processing....it could be so fun.

It would be interesting. It's an underappreciated concept, I think. Imagine something like this as a game feature. So cool.Getaris wrote:Wasn't there someone making a sci-fi harvest clone here? I remember reading a thread like that.
Yup! That one.
Also that darn robot is better at plants than me.
WOW! I didn't know about this, but it looks super cool! I will keep an eye on it!
Oh, sowwie Cherubae, I didn't know, my bad!
To be honest, with Stardew Valley out there, and the dozen of (appearently awesome) incoming games trying to duplicate its success (like Kynseed, Picontier, Verdant Skyes, My Time at Portia, Re: Legend), even Bokumomo is going to struggle a lot to survive with their current sells, though I have some confidence Marvelous can pull out a solid game like they did in the past with A Wonderful Life or Tree of Tranquility and their sequels using the same motor to compete.
But Natsume? Light of Hope looks a lot more like a Mobile game than anything else, unlike Skytree Village which at least seems a full pack on its own. I want Natsume to success too for the sake of more variety and the fact that Skytree Village seems like an all right game all in all, but I have some serious doubts they will survive.

This is my sentiment exactly. I'm really excited for the strides the indie scene seems to be making with farming rpgs, and it makes me sad to see Natsume lagging behind.Nyara wrote:Oh, sowwie Cherubae, I didn't know, my bad!
