@ChaosAzerothCat: That's sadly what I'll miss about the Nats forums. It's not that criticism wasn't allowed, but the Nats forums seemed to be a little haven of positivity for their games. I am all for being critical (I've pointed out flaws in their games too), but sometimes the hate just gets illogically harsh. Hate just to hate never solved much, imo. All I can do is express my hype when I can.

As for Stardew on Switch, I'll be getting it, but I still plan to get LoH. I enjoy them both for different things. Plus, I have over 800 hours in the PC version of SDV, so I'm mostly getting the Switch version for portability novelty more than because I'm jonsing to play it. xD
I honestly have no clue where the 64/BtN looking better rhetoric comes from. Like...no? Like, the textures in those games are pretty rough. That criticism is absolutely bizarre to me.
That applies to pretty much all games from that gen. The N64 can only go so far.

Well yeah.

N64 is to 3D almost what Atari was to 2D. Those graphics didn't age very well. Which is completely fine, they can still be played.

Of course. My point was against the ludicrous criticism that 64/BtN look graphically better than LoH. I could see an argument for someone saying they prefer the art direction in those games, but saying the graphics alone are better is just bizarre. I love the hell out of BtN, but my nostalgia goggles aren't fastened that tight.

It doesn't look better but I do feel the need to say HM 64 held up surprisingly well and better than any ther 64 game I ever played.

I might get light of hope for the switch, BUT I'm going to wait until reviews show up for it. If it's good, it's good. If it's bad, it won't get my money.

I think it's guaranteed to get bad to mediocre reviews.

I think some people that say that 64/BtN has been graphics than what we're getting now are getting graphics confused with art style preference? Like for example you may like the art style of A Wonderful Life better than the style of Animal Parade, but AP obviously has the upgraded, cleaner graphics.

Exactly this. This is why I find the comparison ridiculous.

On reviews: Tbf, HM historically gets "meh" reviews from major places, and I'm referring to the BokuMono days there. So that's par for the course. It'll take fans like us to do more thorough reviews. Arceus willing, I plan to post my first impressions like I have for all the others.

I will have to agree personally. I find the HM64/Back to Nature graphics to be more pleasing to me from an art style perspective. I suppose it is simply because it all 'matches'?

For now the graphics of LoH are bugging my eyes out and look odd. I believe it is due to the mix of 3D sprites on flat background. It just isn't meshing well and my brain doesn't like it.

That being said I'm sure LoH will be a FAR superior game in terms of features and content, but who knows if I will prefer it over 64/BtN. 64 was my first ever HM game so it has a special place in my heart.

Either way I am not one to bash LoH simply because it appears to not be my style atm. If I end up not liking it I don't like it and that's it. Doesn't make it a bad game. ^-^ People should all try to get a long man!

Curiously enough, many review sites started getting more positive about bokumono after the separation.

Really? How odd! I thought the new Natsume games were getting terrible reviews in general... Is that just because of biased SoS fans? I prefer Story of Seasons BY FAR, but... for some reason I have JUST come around on the new Natsume games.

I admit to being very anti-Natsume for a while. It seemed horrible and not at all what I wanted. Now though I guess I simply see it as a COMPLETELY different series! Sure it isn't Story of Seasons, but it clearly isn't trying to be. My anger over them keeping the 'Harvest Moon' name has passed and I now see them as a different kind of farming sim. Still enjoyable, but totally different.

Going into it not expecting a traditional 'Harvest Moon' game has made my return to The Lost Valley 1000x better than before! I actually enjoy it now rather than being frustrated and irritable. ^-^ I guess I just needed time and perspective. Hopefully others will get there too!

Just popping in again as Stardew Valley got it's release date for Switch (Oct 5) and everyone is freaking out so much that it's on the front page of Reddit.

RIP Light of Hope and any chances it had.

Oh nice! I definitely want to try it! Thanks for letting me know! :lala:

It does put LoH at a pretty severe disadvantage, though. I feel kinda bad but I'm still not going to buy it unless it really wows me.
