Ann and Cliff - is it too late?

I can't really find a definitive answer to this, since I see both floating around on the internet....I was wondering if anyone here knew for sure...

I'm playing BTN and I'm on my second year in spring. I saw Cliff and Ann's scene where she talks with him in the church, but I don't think I saw the one where she brings him free lunch at the inn. He's working at the vineyard and he says something like "I have been staying in the village for a while but I don't know what I'm going to do yet," when I talk to him. I keep trying to trigger both the blue heart where she gives him lunch or where she talks to him at the counter, but no luck. Ann is at a Purple Heart.

Did I miss their scene and rival marriage for good? :/

I believe that as long as Cliff is working at the winery, it shouldn't be too late. At this point the only problem would be if Ann's heart level is too high. Also, there's been talk of events not triggering in proper order, so maybe try triggering the other events as well.

Yeah, if Ann is too comfortable with you then she won't really notice Cliff. Or at least that's how it usually is.

So just...

Ignore her a bit. Or wait until you're married. The games usually let the rival events happen regardless of your frienship with the bachelor/ette after you're married.

I am married to Popuri and Ann has a purple heart. Does it need to be black?

Oh well, if you're already married and she's at a low heart (I somehow read it as green in your original post!), then you probably only need to wait and it'll happen eventually.

As far as I know, the only way to ruin this relationship is by letting Cliff go away.

I'd say you're probably safe to just try and trigger their other heart events and see what happens (once you get to the right year ofc) - there are so many little events early on in the game that it's easy to forget if you've seen a particular event or not. But I'm not questioning your memory! It's weird how little is known about the trigger conditions of events in BTN. I've never been able to work out if there are deadlines really.

I found this video of someone triggering it - have you been making sure to go upstairs in the Inn?

Good luck!! I've never seen Ann and Cliff get married in BTN but I'd love to someday.

It's been a while since I played, but I managed to get everyone except Popuri and Kai to marry because their last event won't trigger for me and Gray and Mary because I married Mary. The events are really...chance-y. I've used this guide to at least help me with the events, but it's hit or miss, really. Good luck getting them married!
