It's not a surprise that people are requesting it. Everyone always seems crazy about having animals in their games. A pokemon thing, maybe? I think it's a big part of what made Re: Legend really take off. Myself, I never like games that focus on dealing with animals (just like real life, I don't really have any feelings for animals, as long as they leave me alone) but even I was a bit surprised to see all those cows and chickens in the game in the field across from your (player) place, and then learn that livestock weren't in the game at all, not as something you could have and take care of, but more just as scenery. It felt like they would obviously be planned in from the start, so to find that they weren't, and still aren't guaranteed to be in the game at all, was just...surprising. Maybe I'm imagining too much 'bokumono' in this game.
It would be cool to be able to contribute to the museum Animal Crossing style (except better).

I quite like looking after livestock, as other than my pets I can't do that in real life. (Also real sheep are not cute and fluffy. They're greasy and want to die at a moments notice...). But I can plant things and grow things in real life.
I ended up contributing, loving the demo so far. The map is huge, and apparently that's only a small part of it?!

More good news!!! (For those that like livestock)
So Pathea Games listened and made the livestock stretch goal $120,000
The only problem now is that they pushed the museum back to $130,000
HOWEVER, overnight we are now at $109,000+ so we are very close.
Not sure if we’ll make both stretch goals though.
Other good news, they added steam and console keys as add-ons. So now you don’t need to change your whole pledge to a new tier but instead just over pledge on your current amount if you want to add one of the keys...
Edit: Well we made it to $120,000!
Only 10,000 more for the museum. I hope we make it but I’m also not holding me breath.

At $124,000 with 23 hours left, so they miiiight squeak in the museum. Of course, they've directly said that even if they don't meet the stretch goals, they'll still be considering them and adding them where their budget allows. Though it is nice to hit the goal for it since then it's a promised item
EDIT: At this rate they're pulling in not far off a thou per hour. I'd say the museum is in the bag and that the 'ride animals' even has a shot, if this rate continues right up to the end. I have a very slight interest in being able to ride a cow in the game. If the option was there, I'd have to try it.

I feel like a nerd for keeping this close of an eye on the strength goals but WE MADE IT TO THE MUSEUM!!
Now we just have to hope that no one takes back their pledge at the last second...
Idk but I feel like there might be some trolls that would do that :/

I felt the very same when I saw the funding level jump up by $5,000 all at once about two weeks ago and realized someone had pledged for the $5,000 tier. That seems like something a troll would find really fun, to pledge that much and then withdraw it at the end, so I've been hoping all along that it's genuine. (Not that there aren't any
legitimate reasons to change your mind about backing a kickstarter project, but it does seem like a target trolls would like.) Well, we have 13 hours left and are at $132,000, so I think it might make it to the 'ride animals' level after all, as long as our worries are unfounded and no trolls slipped in with the real backers. I don't care much about riding animals but some people seem to so...yay.

I'm also happy to see that giant list of updates to the alpha...I like cooking to be in a game like this.
EDIT: There's some awesome info coming out in the comments right now. Like Pathea is already thinking about possible sequels to Portia, and also that you can steal QQ away from Gust! (And then Gust might become your enemy or something.) I had wondered about QQ before... What they're considering for pet effects is neat, too.
EDIT 2: All complete at not quite $147,000. Quite good, they should at least be able to keep their production timeline this way since they can now afford to add more people to their team.
3 DAYS LATER EDIT #3: I got my wallpapers today and they're really nice to just gaze at...love the colours in Portia. Someone on the team is obviously really fond of the combination of greens, blues and oranges. (The color, not the fruit.)

This game certainly looks promising! I hope to be getting a Switch for Christmas, so a January release date will be just right for me!

The console version of Portia is not due out until August 2018, I'm afraid. Of course, that's a tentative date, nothing definite, but it's more likely to come out later than sooner, unless they're able to hire some super efficient people with their Kickstarter income. January really would be awesome. And I do hope you get your Switch, Tiptoze...it doesn't have much on it yet that I want to play but I love playing with it, it's a fun console.

The game isn't scheduled for January; that's their Steam Early Access thing. PC gets the full game in August while consoles get it in the fall. Of course, it is subject to change.

My console version pledge says 'August 2018' for the estimated delivery, though...no mention of fall.

It's in their official description of the game, so it seems they're inconsistent with release dates.

Oops, I didn't read carefully enough there. I think my chances are pretty good. My mom was saying how she get it'd it for me for Christmas as a late graduation gift because she didn't want to distract me from my first semester of college by getting me a shiny new console. It's okay that they aren't too many games out yet, it'd only be more of a distraction then.

If you're the least bit interested in LoZ and didn't pick BotW up on Wii U, you'll be plenty distracted for a long time with just that, lol.
Yeah, the EA version of the game will release in January on Steam, iirc, so with all these different release dates for different consoles and different versions (alpha 3.0, closed beta, early access, final PC release, then console releases) it's kind of hard to figure out when your version of choice is actually due out. But then, nothing is set in stone yet, anyway.

I've only ever played Twilight Princess and I was youngin' so it was a very hard game for me and as a result I didn't like it very much lol. I never got a Wii U. There were like two games on it from what I've heard anyway.
