Yes, you are crazy for wanting to try this.

Because a lot of these games are so similar, and so little effort went into developing the later instalments, playing all of them so much and so close together will just get you franchise fatigued and frustrated, especially with horrible later instalments like Story of Seasons (worst-tutorial-EVER). As much as I love Harvest Moon, the games just arn't suitable for marathon gaming. I know from experience.

Well, yeah, of course you arn't going to enjoy games that you don't own, thus, haven't even played...

I go through franchise fatigue as well and yet I'm going through all my Harvest Moon games as well. Maybe the OP won't experience it. (Side note: If you do experience franchise fatigue, finish up another game before going back; it usually helps)

As for SoS's tutorial, it's definitely an improvement over ANB's month tutorial, and I started over that game so many times.

I think it's best not to assume what the OP has gone through. You know what they say about assuming, "Assuming makes an « Mr.Gourmet's hat » out of you and me."

They're excluding Puzzle de Harvest Moon and Frantic Farming and I am deeply offended by that.

Anyway it it's a bit sad to see everyone excluding the Natsume Moons. I mean, there's probably other games in the series they don't enjoy too.

In my original post I said "I anticipate this taking me a very long time and there's a good chance I'll give up at some point." I do not intend to do this in a short period of time. All of the games are long games and there are only so many hours in a day, plus there are a lot of other games I'd like to play. It's a long term goal rather than something I intend to be done with in a year. If I get fatigue, I'll just take a break.

Nice assumption there. I got Hometown Story which I was extremely excited for and I was burned really bad by that. But I decided to give them another chance with TLV only to be burned really bad once again by a game I did not enjoy. After that, I decided I would not try the new ones that came out by them because it seems like a waste of money for games I know I don't enjoy based on past experience. It's also hard for me to get past the art style. Maybe the newer ones are better that TLV but Natsume hasn't given me a reason to trust them.

Frantic Farming is out because I'm not a mobile gamer. I did consider Puzzle de Harvest Moon but if I do get that game, I'm not sure if I will even include it in my list because my list is actually just "farming games in general" and that is a puzzle game rather than a farming game. My reason for excluding the Natsume games is above. If there are games I don't enjoy but are on my list, I will just remove them from the list. One of the ones I'm concerned about is IoH due to the stylus controls. If I didn't already own the game, I'd probably just not include that one. But I'm going to give it another shot since I already own it and it was too long ago when I first tried it.

The puzzle de and Frantic Farming bit was actually a joke.

Though puzzle de is more like a ridiculously fast farming game than a puzzle game tbh. Haven't played FF, but afaik it's a DS game.

My bad, haha. I thought FF was only mobile but you're right, it did come out for DS. Maybe if I see them in a used bargain bin or something somewhere I'll pick them up :) I actually remember being really interested in Puzzle de Harvest Moon when I was younger but I never ended up getting it for whatever reason. Seems like FF is a bit more involved than the other one, with a story mode and events and such. I'm kinda interested now tbh even though you meant it as a joke.

Skytree Village is the only one I own 2 copies of lol.

Also in regards to fatigue, I don't get franchise fatigue personally but I get game fatigue. I jump when I feel like it and jump back as I will.

I have a hard time doing that, personally! With most games I forget what I was doing so I end up just restarting the game from the beginning after taking a break. It's a perpetual cycle of replaying the beginning of games sometimes

I ordered a less glitchy copy of HM DS which will arrive in about a week (I originally bought it when it was released so I have the most glitchy copy). So that means I can marry the Harvest Goddess or Witch Princess if I feel like it. I might start on that game soon and I'll probably go for Leia first.

I'm progressing in HM2 nicely as well. I'm about halfway through the 2nd year and the game "ends" at the end of year 3. My entire farm is full of crops and I'm working on being able to afford some sheep and the final house upgrade. I don't know what the ending is like at all nor the requirements for a good ending (assuming a bad ending is possible anyway, I'll look it up after I beat the game) so I'm very excited to see what happens.

Natsume has a digital sale going on right now but sadly it's not on any of the games from my list that I don't already own :( I was really hoping the PSP/Vita ones would be on there since I only own HoLV right now.

That's fair. I don't always get game fatigue and I'm not always anle to dully jump well either tbh.

Hate how the sales aren't ports so I can never get them for PSP/Vita. Wanna play those too but can't try to ask for a whole system for them really.

Glad you're progressing well. For me in SI, I'm waiting for my kid to grow up. Since I married Vaughn, it's the last Sunstone I need to finish the game. One more year to try and breeze through. I'll probably move on to AWL or ToTT next since I have files started up for them.

That's awesome, you're really close! Do you know who you'll go for in AWL? My favorite is Lumina (SE only sadly) but I like all of them. I never got all the way to the end of that game despite how much I played it when it first came out. It's actually my very first HM game. I remember I was looking for random games at Best Buy with my Christmas or bday money and picked up AWL and Animal Crossing. So I definitely have the most nostalgia from that one :D

In HM2, I finally got sheep. I was getting kind of confused because the entire area behind the barn had grass growing and I had max fodder in the storage bin but the animal shop guy kept telling me I needed to plant more grass. Turns out I just needed to wait until it grew a little bit taller. I only bought 3 sheep. The 4th sheep will come from making my sheep pregnant just so I can see what pregnant and baby sheep look like in that game. I also got my house completely upgraded now. There's just a few more things I need to buy. I probably will have everything done by the end of year 2 so I'll just have to spend a year of taking care of my animals and crops to reach the ending. I might try to see if I can get max money.

I changed my mind on HM DS. I think, since I have the less glitchy copy of the game coming in soon, I will actually marry the Witch Princess first. Probably Keira 2nd and the Harvest Goddess last. Not one after the other of course, I'll break it up with other games in between. I was looking through the guide of that game and completely forgot just how much stuff is in it. The Harvest Goddess file will be my completionist file where I see all events and rival marriages and such so I think it's good to leave that one for last.

Celia. She's my favorite girl in the game and the first girl I ever married (AWL is my first Bokumono game as well). As for ToTT and GrB for extension, I already know I'm marrying Mikhail and Freya respectively.

Thanks! That's a bummer. The main concerns for me are SNES and 64. My N64 doesn't work very well so I might have to buy another one and I don't own an SNES. I do know someone who might let me borrow their SNES though. Another option would be to get a used Wii U and buy them on virtual console. So I might end up doing that but I'm going to wait a little while and think it over first, especially since I already have a Switch.

Celia is my 2nd favorite! I married Muffy my first time because I liked her blonde hair, but after that I ended up sticking with Celia on my gc version. Mikhail is nice!! I'm partial to Cam due to his purple clothes. GB is one of my favorite games so that's one I will play sooner rather than later. I love all the characters although I especially like Amir and Emiko. Amir is actually my favorite bachelor in all of the games (slightly above Gray) although I never got far enough to actually marry him in GB or ANB. I love the bazaar aspect of GB and the small town makes it easier for me to feel more connected with the characters.
