Yes, you are crazy for wanting to try this.
Because a lot of these games are so similar, and so little effort went into developing the later instalments, playing all of them so much and so close together will just get you franchise fatigued and frustrated, especially with horrible later instalments like Story of Seasons (worst-tutorial-EVER). As much as I love Harvest Moon, the games just arn't suitable for marathon gaming. I know from experience.
In my original post I said "I anticipate this taking me a very long time and there's a good chance I'll give up at some point." I do not intend to do this in a short period of time. All of the games are long games and there are only so many hours in a day, plus there are a lot of other games I'd like to play. It's a long term goal rather than something I intend to be done with in a year. If I get fatigue, I'll just take a break.

Well, yeah, of course you arn't going to enjoy games that you don't own, thus, haven't even played...
Nice assumption there. I got Hometown Story which I was extremely excited for and I was burned really bad by that. But I decided to give them another chance with TLV only to be burned really bad once again by a game I did not enjoy. After that, I decided I would not try the new ones that came out by them because it seems like a waste of money for games I know I don't enjoy based on past experience. It's also hard for me to get past the art style. Maybe the newer ones are better that TLV but Natsume hasn't given me a reason to trust them.

Anyway it it's a bit sad to see everyone excluding the Natsume Moons. I mean, there's probably other games in the series they don't enjoy too.
Frantic Farming is out because I'm not a mobile gamer. I did consider Puzzle de Harvest Moon but if I do get that game, I'm not sure if I will even include it in my list because my list is actually just "farming games in general" and that is a puzzle game rather than a farming game. My reason for excluding the Natsume games is above. If there are games I don't enjoy but are on my list, I will just remove them from the list. One of the ones I'm concerned about is IoH due to the stylus controls. If I didn't already own the game, I'd probably just not include that one. But I'm going to give it another shot since I already own it and it was too long ago when I first tried it.
