Harvest Moon: Light of Hope - Farming

Today, Natsume showed off how farming works in Light of Hope in this video. It looks similar to SoM if I'm remembering right.

I'm going to be honest, it looks amazing! Though that grid system for watering seems pretty complex and strange... oh well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I love how it "tells" you what's grown with a visual picture. It's pretty cute (and convenient!)
That music though, I don't know if I'm going to like it or hate it. Seems like the tune may get repetitive to listen to over time.

I seriously can't wait for this game to come out. And totally off topic here, but holy buckets! That's a large sum of Gold the player has! I wonder if money will be that easy to acquire in LoH, or if it's just that big of an amount for this demo video.

If it's like SoM then you just need to hold and drag the finger/cursor to select more squares to affect. I assume that when playing with regular controls it'll just work like in Skytree Village/every other game. Chances are the large amounts of money are just because this is a dev build and they give themselves lots of money to get stuff easily. (also the song is Doc's personal theme, not sure why they're using it in all the preview trailers).

Anyway! Oh gawd I'm so glad they added the multi-planting/fertilizing/harvesting(probably) from Skytree Village and expanded the effective area of the tools.

Seeds of Memories did it nicely with the upgraded watering can and hoe, but they maxed at six squares and you still had to do do everything else one by one

Also I really liked that last shot with the animals around.

I swear, they're doing this to tease Cher.

From what I saw based on your comments, Getaris, it seems like it'll be like SoM with either the mouse or right analog stick controlling the grid for watering.

I am really hyped for this. The little helper icon intrigues me. Will it show if a crop is mutated before it's ready to harvest? Because if so, that is amazing.

I'm actually really looking forward to this one! I enjoyed SoM quite a bit, but I wanted the tools to do more than 6 squares, which this seems to do. I wonder if we'll get the "candy" animals again? xD

Unless they changed something, crops only really mutate on harvest day. So I don't think you'll be able to know if a crop mutated before it's already apparent.

Still, being able to tell what did you plant where is useful in a game like this.

1. I think one of the articles posted around E3 mentioned a chocolate chicken so I am pretty sure they are in?

2. Freeze the video with about 13-14 seconds left. There's a WHITE donkey and a BROWN donkey. Something's up there?

aw the donkeys are so cute <3 i'm excited to play this when it comes out, as i haven't tried any Natsume Harvest Moon games yet.

Isn't it like that in every other farming game though?

I don't think there's any farming game that doesn't use a grid for planting crops.

I am just guessing but some of the bubbles are different colors and have decorations. Compare 32 seconds left versus 27 seconds left. Could that indicate the chances of a mutation?

I've only heard bad things about Natsume Harvest Moon. I may just stick with story of Seasons. I'll just wait and see what the reviews for this are. It might turn out amazing! Farming is always fun, if done right.
